Black Sabbath
Jimi Hendrix

Grand Funk Railroad...

Those are some the bands I really like, even though I listen to a lot more bands.

Theres no accounting for taste. Thats why im amused/annoyed when anyone says "this is shit or thats not real music". Who wrote the book? Parents have been telling their kids since Elvis that their music will not be around in 10 years time. Even the much maligned (at the time) 80s music has its classics. Rap and the like will also be represented in future years. Everything has its relevance. Not that I particularly like it all though.

If you like BOC there is a DVD of a concert that they performed in 2000 which shows the old boys still doing their stuff. I think its called long days night. Only Alan Lanier, Eric Bloom and Buck Dharma remain but they are the engine room anyway.

Well your right about all music having its followers the only real type of music i dont like is rap the rest of it i dont mind too much like im litening to dave dobbyn-slice of heaven and as my winamp ticks over im now listening to feva for the flavor by hot action cop. I just like music in general mostly heavy metal, rock and the beer albums.
And thanks for the BOC info as well. Its funny my parents make the same claim about liking most music in general they really dont like all the metal and rock i listen to from their era :D funny that.

im really into underground hip hop, when it comes to radio i find it on clasic rock more than anything else, the radio "rap" they play is a bunch of crap writen to apeal to 13 yar old wanna be gangsters that want to feel cool, "i picked up my gun and shot my ho, im a gaaaaangsta..." lol underground hip hop is much more down to earth, some favorites are:
del
Mos Def
Twalib Quali
Pharoh Monch
Bianary Star
Dr. Octagon/Koo Keif
The Roots
and many more...

I listen to such a diverse selection of tunes ... classic rock to punk and many stops in between. Sometimes I think my musical taste never grew up, then again my wife thinks I listen to it to annoy the hell outta her :D

Favourites include:

Dead Kennedys(actually anything involving Jello Biafra)
Pennywise
The Hives
The Forgotten Rebels
Van Halen(with David Lee Roth)
Iron Maiden
Metallica
Triumph
Rush(prior to Moving Pictures)

You can keep your C&W and Rap:D

Triumph and Rush are great. What happened with moving pictures?

NoOne
10-16-2003, 06:38 AM
In my own opinion Rush stopped making great tunes after Moving Pictures .... there were a few songs that were the exception to this , but for the most part there will never be another "2112", "Farewell to Kings", "Fly by Nght", "Permanent Waves" .... do you really think "Presto", "Roll the Bones" or "Counterparts" are even comparable?

Havent heard the last three you mention. How many albums did they eventually pump out? Have you seen them or Triumph live?

Rush put out close to 30 albums, if you count compilations also.

I've seen Rush in concert once, the Power Windows tour , back in the mid-'80's, I also saw Triumph Stages and Thunder Seven tours around the same time ....both were awesome shows !!
