You've never seen Darrel Waltrip's Coke 600 #17 Western Auto Chevrolet from the late 90s? Where it was supposed to be white, it was all chrome. I'll post pictures of it if I can find any.

I see, that car was neat to watch at night with the lights reflecting off of it. It matched Darrell's personality perfectly.

goto www.ask.com and type in this:
1997 Darrell Waltrip #17 Parts America chrome Chevrolet

There should be a site for die cast adult collectables that should have a model of the car. That's exactly what it looked like.

I think the 911 Turbo is a model car.....

Look at the grass in the background.
And the ground it's standing on looks like a part of a carton

But the AMGs look awesome even though I'd never like to have a full-chrome car

They look awesome, especially the SL *drools*

Are chromed cars actually road legal? I can imagine other drivers getting confused by seeing themselves in the car in front, or the car looking almost invisible by reflecting its surroundings? Also if it was a bright day the light could blind other drivers which could cause a crash, so i guess they wouldnt be allowed on the road. Does anyone actually know?

Why would you bother doing that, First drive out someone smashes you cause your car blinds them :D, Or you get blind from the reflection from the bonnet Ahhhhhhh :D

Going back to my mention of DW's car, around the same year a guy came to my dad to do a graphics job on his midget Stock Car (basically, a kart that was built similar to the normal Stock Car, including the roll cage but the engine was still in the back) to MATCH that DW's chrome car. What my dad did was take chrome vinal and cut it into long sheets and stuck it on the car. He said it wasn't as bad as he had thought, but was a pain around the countours of the car. The owner of the midget was more than pleased.

I remember at the British Motorshow a couple of years back where they had a chromed Jaguar XJR ... it had loads of fingermarks!

Huh, never seen anything like that before. I wouldn't think that it would be legal on the road. With the reflections it creates and such.

Both the Jag and Audi are polished aluminum.

As far as I know, there is no law on any books stating that it is illegal to paint a car a certain way. If there was, the ACLU (which has done good things and bad) would sue to strike it off the books because of freedom of speech violations.
