View Full Version : a 4-Hint version of guess the car.....

IWantAnAudiRS6
08-30-2004, 08:07 AM
Right, I'm going to give this a go...
THE RULES:
1) I give you 4 hints
2) the car has to be guessed in 3 turns.
3) no multiple choices....

hope that makes a certain degree of sense! Right, the first one is:

Japanese
Hybrid
Luxury
Only available in japan

Hell_Unleashed

When u say its a car... is it a 'car' or any vehicle?
I was thinking... the 2004 Toyota Alphard Hybrid? but thats a minivan type of thing...

IWantAnAudiRS6
08-30-2004, 10:58 AM
Ok, over three, it is the Toyota Crown, and after extensive research I have discovered that it is an old-shape Lexus LS430, with a 3.0 hybrid engine.

IWantAnAudiRS6
08-30-2004, 10:59 AM
I think that EvilPaladin may have been right, but with the wrong make.

So, next one:

1) concept
2) weird steering wheel that used a track to sense how you were turning
3) scissor doors
4) european....

henk4
08-30-2004, 11:04 AM

Tamiya several years ago issued a 1/24 kit of the Lexus LS430. In order to reduce production costs half a year later they issued the Toyota Celsior, with exactly the same body, but right hand steering :)

IWantAnAudiRS6
08-30-2004, 11:18 AM
Mercedes F400 Carving?

Ooooooo.... so close! You are good, you are on the right track, go before that a bit....

Delmaster
08-30-2004, 11:19 AM
is there a F300?

IWantAnAudiRS6
08-30-2004, 11:21 AM
Yep, but thats not it- the f300 LifeJet was a little trike, that doesn't have any of the above. Warmer....

Delmaster
08-30-2004, 11:36 AM
so maybe F200?
if it's right I know what you mean when you say "weird steering wheel"....
It was shown at a little motorshow some years ago in Bremen....I was 9 or 10
it has a joystick

IWantAnAudiRS6
09-01-2004, 11:45 AM
trial and elimination always works.... you are right, now for the next one.

1) 7 litre/ 427 cu v8
2) awesome looks, timeless design
3) convertible only
4) induced the 70mph speed limit on Britains roads....

Ferrari Tifosi
09-01-2004, 11:53 AM
AC Cobra?

IWantAnAudiRS6
09-01-2004, 12:07 PM
Jesus Christ! Well done, dude... how did you know??? Congratulations.
Next vehicle....
1) mini-SUV/ pointless exercise
2) fairly new (2003)
3) british
4) stupid advertising, with ugly looks

Ferrari Tifosi
09-01-2004, 12:11 PM
There's only one car I think of when I hear timeless design + 427 ci engine, and that's the AC Cobra.

Land Rover Free Lander?

IWantAnAudiRS6
09-01-2004, 02:12 PM
nope. Ford Fusion is the answer. i'll take away the limit on 3 goes before I tell the answer. the freelander has been in the uk since late 90's! all others fit though....
next car:
1) absolute classic
2) normally green
3) ancient
4) convertible

Gt1Street
09-01-2004, 03:00 PM
the first hint sucks
it has to be racing green, so i'll guess some kind of Lotus ?

IWantAnAudiRS6
09-01-2004, 03:05 PM
Ok, extra hints: Still in production today, has changed very little from its 1940s spec name aside. The old name is to do with genitalia.

next car:

I thought about that, but if the Meriva does not qualify as a suv why does the Fusion? Because it has a bonnet?

IWantAnAudiRS6
09-02-2004, 04:45 AM
Because Ford class it as a mini-SUV. Vauxhall class their car as a mini-MPV. Not a Morgan, not a Fossil, not a Caterham. Read the extra hints closely, someone's gotta get it!

Hard top convertible?
Peugeot 206 CC?

IWantAnAudiRS6
09-06-2004, 04:59 AM
No. I don't rate the 206CC as a hot hatch. I mean 90's, as well. Something that helped make the car faster. There was a stripped-out version, that didn't have the special thing, and the stripped version had no creature comforts. Obviously! You're on the right lines, but just not that close.

Well, Peugeot 306 GTI? :D

IWantAnAudiRS6
09-06-2004, 02:35 PM
BULLSEYE!!!!! The GTi-6, which had a 6-speed gearbox. Something other hot hatches didn't really have back then. Nice looker, too. The stripped out version was the Rallye- cloth trim instead of leather, no air con, no six-speed gearbox, but faster. Next car:
1) future classic, may already be one
2) better than previous generation cars, definetely the 2nd one!
3) 3 engines to choose from
4) spoiler rose at speed

EvilPaladin
09-06-2004, 03:53 PM

09-17-2004, 01:41 AM

IWantAnAudiRS6

Well done VtecMini, it's the TVR Griffith. Next car:

It's the Audi. It goes to Delmaster, as IwantanaudiRS6 was later and got the displacement wrong (it's 4 litres). And coming up...
Supercharged version of slower version's engine
Smaller displacement than little brother
Available in rear- or all-wheel-drive
Out next year
