As actual '58 Furies were only available in Beige, you'd have to get one that was speicifically a Christine model.

I assume that's what you're after yes? :)

hows people's experiences so far with the sealed body Autoart 1:18s....It looks like this is going to be their only racing car series from now on. So far they have the Le Mans Bentleys, JGTC cars, WRC cars(Citroens), SPEED GT Cadillacs, and now I think GT cars like the C6.R and stuff....I am kinda disappointed that they probably won't be making "proper" racing car diecast any more(except maybe limited ones like the 787B and stuff), but this new line gives them pretty darn fast turnaround time for new stuff....

AutoArt has an excellent quality but CMC modelcars are even better (and more expensive:( )

Time to announce the "changes"... I am adding 3 more display cases like the one pictured above (3rd pic) - those will be here on Tuesday. I am also adding another 1:12 scale display case, for the 1:12 scale Enzo that is on its way. Not sure when the Enzo's case will be here, but the Enzo should be here on Wednesday...

Hey guys. I'm new here. Hoping someone can help me out. I'm looking for some 1/18 models. I'm looking for a Lotus Exige, Nissan 240sx first gen, Ford Probe second gen, Nissan 300zx second gen, BMW Z4, and, as unlikely as I am to find them, any of the Noble, TVR, and Panoz LMP cars.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

RacingManiac
08-02-2006, 07:35 PM
There is definitely a Z4 from Kyosho, probe unlikely, TVR is made by Jadi(or something like that), though no opening other than doors. And AUTOArt makes Panoz, though not the LMP car, they made the GTR-1 road and racer....

25th Countach
09-25-2006, 08:31 AM
Hello everybody,
Im new to this site and thought Id offer my information.

I have 64 Die cast in 1/18. Ive only built die cast's once, but decided to stick with buying them. (And repairing them if they break or dont get shipped with care.) I do / have built ship models, Titanic, SS. U.S, Bismark, Queen Mary etc etc.

*They are in a spare bedroom in the closet in their boxes, being stored as I live in an apt*. Trying to remember exactly what I have. Im hoping to get a nice 4-5bedroom house, so I can have a room for JUST my cars, in some elaborate glass case with expansion for.. 2-300 cars.

I have a very select amount of diecast. Certain cars are just so damn sexy.

Lamborghini: 1 86 Countach, 2 Diablo a standard in red and the SV in white and a Mercielago in orange.
Ferrari: a F50, A 550 maranello and a white Testarossa (Miami Vice )from 88.
Porsche: a Yellow 87, and a 98 (?) 911 from SCCA (?) racing has UPS logo and colors, a 356, and a 95.
Vettes: a 54, a 04 and a 01, a 63 in glass and in metal, a 74.
BMW's: Mostly 3series coupes sedans and conv's with an 850ci
MercedesBenz: An A Class, a SLK 98, 3 SL's 1yr before and after the Gullwing m.y. 3 in total and the 96 ML.
Dodge: Vipers 2 98 GTS, 1 95 in red, 2 Pt Cruisers -the concept hot rod in gold, and the standard purple one from autoshows. I also have a Prowler free from an autoshow, a Sidewinder concept.
Jag: An XJ220 from 94, a E type conv in green and an XK last gen conv.
I also have a Delorean and a couple of Classics, 59 Eldo, 57 Chevy, 59 Impala, 57 and 03 Concept Tbird.

My hope is to pick up a bunch of movie cars, General Lee, ECTO, the Lexus car from IROBOT etc etc. Along with a Citroen DS. I try not to pick up the most high end sports cars, mostly vehicles that just stand out. I (try) never buy 70s cars, any SUVS or trucks, and expand into 1/12 scale.

I haven't been around here for a while... Here is one of my new purchases this year.

I also picked up a Testarossa, a Ferrari FXX, and a 288 GTO but my camera died after this last set of pictures. Time for a new camera.

I collected different scales and models over the past years. Now I sticked to the 1/18 scale, but stopped collecting for the moment as it eats up storage space quite rapidly. It´s the nicest scale to collect IMO though. I now have about 25 ´classic´ American cars in 1/18, mostly muscle cars from the 60´s and 70´s from brand ERTL.

I have 1/18, 1/24 and 1/43 models in cabinets. I don't like individual acrylic boxes. They create a lot of glare and reflections, so you can't see the models very well behind all that plastic. The bases that come with most models are either cheesy or they take up too much room. Or both! I would like to just set each model on a good looking open stage of some sort, something that elevates the model a bit and doesn't take up a lot of room.

Does anybody make good-looking display stages in the right sizes? Thanks in advance for any tips.

Whats the running price on ur avarage exotic sports car (1/18)??

From $30 to $300. That covers everything from Bburago/Maisto to semi-mass produced higher end 1:18's, like Exoto, AutoArt, GMP, CMC, and, more recently, BBR. AutoArt offers the best car for the money; CMC and BBR are in a tie for top dog. IMO, of course.

There's no upper limit, but anything below $30 is most likely toy store crap. Lately, I've been slowing down and saving my pennies for a better class of model. It's the old quantity vs quality question; some people would rather have one great car than a hundred ordinary ones.

First non-assembling model ?

which one?

what I do is buying diecast (all assembled), but I always have a Bburago, wich is cheap and easy to open in separated part to detail (painting, carpets and wiring)

It is a vitrine :D

I am a student, so I live with friends in a rent house. These are the vitrines in the living room, where mothers use to place glasses and stuff. But here there are no mothers, son there is enough room for my diecasts :D

But the dust they have on after one month is the same amount they could have in one day if placed on a table.

I also have a limited edition "white number" car (#16) from her 2005 year. It was only sold at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway that year for a short time.

I REALLY thought it was a 1953 Ferrari 166MM Vignale Spider. AFAIK, the 3.0 V12 Colombo engine only appeard some years after, but I might be mistaken.
Well, this is my current 1:18 collection (that I can remember...): 2x 1995 Ferrari F50 (Maisto), 1992 McLaren F1 Clinic Model (Guiloy), 1997 Ferrari 360 Modena (Bburago), 1996 Ferrari 550 Maranello (Bburago), 1987 Ferrari F40 Prototipo (Bburago), 1952 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, 1954 Lancia Aurelia B24 America Spider (Bburago), 1996 Ford GT90 (Maisto), 1958 Ford Thunderbird, 2001 Pagani Zonda S 7.3 (Motor Max), 1991 Jaguar XJ220 (Maisto), 1961 Jaguar E-Type Coupé (Bburago), 1991 Dodge Viper RT10 (Bburago), 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SL (Maisto) and my most recent (and beloved), a 1955 Volkswagen 1100 / Bug (Bburago).

Anyone knows where I can find a rather cheap Veyron 16.4? I know AutoArt builds them but htey're just WAY too expensive for my wallet...:(

No picture, but I bought 2 die-casts yesterday for the first time in 3 years. Autoart R35 GTR and Autoart Porsche Flying Lizard 997 GT3 RSR. The R35 was quite interesting to see as I noticed now that the hinges on the car from doors to trunk and hood are basically miniturizd version of real car, with simulated telescpic sturt and 4 bar linkages....pretty interesting...Autoart doesn't disappoint with tight shutlines and realistic looking paint job...

Oh last thing I forgot....What is the approx. size of any 1:43 model?

it depends on the original car:
4 meters long --> 9 cm
5 meters long --> 11 cm
Counting the platform too 13/13,5 cm is a good length for all models.

could I kindly ask you to remove the inline images from your quotation? :)

Thanks cargirl, as you can see it's just boring to scroll over the page because soemone decided to post in line large images in large quantity. quoting them doesn't help, but it's a minor sin ;).
If exotic118 could do the same now...

What's the issue with posting photos? I can understand quoting the entire photo set but that's not what I did.

Have I posted too many photo?

there is no such thing as too many photos :D, it's just that here at UCP we prefer pics to be attached and not inserted in line after having uploaded them to imageshack and other site, so the pics is always online and we avoid broken kinks and such, and the forum's layout is safe, while the navigation for 56k users is still manageable (believe it or not, 56k is still alive). :)
