What happened?
After switching servers on Saturday we encountered a number of problems, causing a longer than expected downtime. When the site was back online a number of unexpected glitches acted up in the forums, mainly due to changed server settings. With the help of Matra et Alpine, all problems were tackled one by one. The last operation was the rebuilding of the thumbnails, a time consuming process, which was just completed.
What's new?
We did not only switch servers, but we also launched a completely new software package for all non-forum sections of the site. Although it looks the same, the new software is less server intensive and has resulted in increased speeds throughout the site. A side-effect is that all links have changed.
What next?
The new software is ready to be fully integrated with the forums, which will allow for a number of new feature, which will be launced later in the year. The first of these is a revised comment system, which will use the forums' user database rather than the separate system previously used.
If you are still encountering problems, please let us know in this thread.
