Well you see when i post images/attachments it says "error 504" i think?
and "safe mode" something what does that mean?
Has my virus detector blocked UCP?
PLZ help because i really love the chop forums. :(

It sounds like you're getting a gateway timeout on the POST from the attachments window.

So, I think it IS your firewall protection.
You need to tell it that UCP is a 'safe' zone.
Tell us what OS, anti-virus, firewall packages you've got installed and we can likely tell you how if you're not sure.

Do you have the URL filter enabled ?
If you do then you need to read the manual :)
Extract below, basically you need to tell the firewall that UCP is 'safe'.
Try this first, I'm not convinced as this should have blocked the pop-up window anyway and it's the POST that's failing.
WHAT exact messages are you getting and in what windows ???

In meantime, check this
.....
A Trend Micro Internet Security "Blocked URL" message will be displayed
when someone attempts to access a blocked Web site.
To add or edit a Restricted or Permitted List URL:
1. On the Trend Micro Internet Security main window, click Internet >
URL Filter.
2. Choose one of the following:
• To allow access, click Allow access.... Your Restricted List is now
operational.
• To block access, click Block access.... Your Permitted List is now
operational.
3. Do one of the following:
• To add a new URL: click Add.
• To edit a URL: select the URL, and then click Edit.
4. You can either add a URL manually, or retrieve URLs from your browser
favorites or cache. Importing URLs from your browser cache is a quick
way to add all your recently accessed Web sites to the Permitted List. To
add a URL manually:
• In Add the URL, type the URL of the blocked (Restricted List) or
allowed (Permitted List) Web site. For example,
www.somewebpage.com.
5. To add all the URLs from your browser cache:
• Click Import URLs from Web browser cache. If you would prefer
to import your URLs from your browsers favorites, click Import My
Favorites.
6. To block the entire Web site including all sub-pages, select the Include
all sub-pages... check box.
7. Click OK. If you selected the Include all sub-pages... check box, a
small cross appears on the URL icon.
8. Click Apply.

I will copy and paste the error
"Warning: mkdir(): SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 506 is not allowed to access /home/virtual/site3/fst/var/www/forumattachments/5/4/4 owned by uid 48 in /home/virtual/site3/fst/var/www/html/forum/includes/functions_file.php on line 112"
"155_st162.jpg:
Could not create file system directory to hold your attachment. "

thats what happens with any type of image
cheers for helping by the way ;)

ooh, now that I can see the real error, it's not a 'normal' firewall problem.

Can you come on messenger and we can go through some other ideas.

every NEW member since the new server last week
should have this problem, it's an PHP/MySQL config problem
are there new members who can prove me wrong? please let me know

[EDIT]
it seemed to be a problem related to the attachments issue last week.
wouter is in SPA-belgium this weekend, so you just have to wait until monday, I am very very sorry, but it drives me crazy too :(

[EDIT2]
it still doesn't work automatically, but we can force it manually now
if you have a problem with uploading of attachments, please pm me
and I will try to fix it manually for your account as soon as possible

I am also having problems uploading stuff, every time I try to attach a file, it says:
"Copy to file system directory failed.)"
Exact words.
I am now slighty frustrated.
