Due to the rubbish sales of Daewoo's in Europe GM are to re-name the brand Chevrolet! Thats a kick in the teeth for Ultima owners with Chevrolet on the Rocker cover!

Due to rubbish sales of Cheverolet's in Europe, GM is to re-name the brand "Daewoo".

The cars are still bland and boring, calling them Chevy's will only re-enforce Europeans ideas about how American cars are crap.
Fortunately for Ultima owners it says "American Speed" rather than "Cheverolet" on the engine covers.
Thats what i thought! lol

IIRC it's just Eastern Europe the name will be Chevrolet.
Where Daewoo has a presence and 'name' they will retain that - so that's most of Western Europe
Unless of course, it's changed recently ( last month or so ) :)

Apparently some one in the UK on Daewoo's mailing list got a letter through informing them of the intended change.
It really is one of the most bizzare moves ever.
The cars will be the same, but with a different shape badge. I can't see more than 5 or 6 people being fooled.

You can buy a Matiz here for 10,000 dollars here, NEW! 2004!. To put that into comparison, in 2000 my mums Corona was worth 12,000...

i went to pakistan in july. there the Matiz is sold with a chevrolet badge. its called the Chevrolet Exclusive. a lot of other cars such as the accord there are from Europe.
