Now that a little time has passed, I'm curious to see how our results would be if we took another poll. The simple question once again is, do you care for the reputation system?

Last time there was a poll it resulted in a pro-rep/anti-rep ratio of 1.87 to 1.

This is a public poll. - Click on the numbers to see who has voted for which option. (We can also see if anyone who has "left" has come back just to vote ;))

I have the same feelings as Whiteballz, personally.

personally i voted for it to stay away, i really dont think thatit is necessary on a forum like this even if it is nice to have a dfferent type of recognition :)

Yeh, over it. Keep it off it just causes headaches for mods and members alike....

I think its just causing too much hassle .. were here to talk about cars (and sometimes things a bit different ;)) Its not worth it really .. but it doesnt really bother me :D

Oh an Karrmann .. make your mind up :)

I was never too keen on rep, and never really could be bothered with the hassle of going through the motions, especially if I was replying to a thread anyway.

I found it interesting but seeing it was so contentious I suppose we can do without it.

i think rep should come back. take a look at how many users received below 0 rep, maybe 3 or 4? i do think rep keeps us in line, but we didn't need to think about it. now that we realize what we can do/say, ucp is becoming the next sc.net! and personally i don't like to see the mods get bashed for becoming stricter. they need to be strict, to keep those that are going crazy because rep is gone, in line. my solution would be:

PULEASEEEE BRING BACK REP!!!!!

P.S., I'm posting this in every rep-related thread

I voted no. The original system did have its flaws and i'd have to have a close look at a new system before i voted for it of course. I'm all for a system that gives some reference to the good, helpful members of the UCP community though

"No" gets my vote, but I like the idea of something new. The rep system was fun, let's get something similar to it. :)

I love the fruit idea! We can have ratings. Starving if you're a really bad member, then hungry, satasfied, full, very full, obese, then elephant :p .

yeh like you have the option to rate a thread out of 5 stars right, why not have the pictures and the options to choose from to rate the post of someone and then it gets PMed to them with any comments

not a big fan. Not only that, but what's to stop a member from posting a bad post whether they get negative rep or not?

I got a lot of negative rep points for the worst reasons. I got at least one negative for my swearing thread (hey, at least $100 worth of music got lifted, plus my cd player), and another saying my America thread was bagging on america. WTF? If people abuse the system, it's worthless. It seems like people got good rep for nothing and bad rep for everything.

I say F it. If we get a flux of bad posters, bring it back.

I say keep it off, this rep "problem" caused more grief than it was worth. If someone gets out of line in the future...the mods can always ban them to the degree of the "offence".

Interesting, this one. My poll (the one that got shut down) had almost double the amount of people who wanted rep, this one is much closer...

Interesting... you mean like the old rep system, where a more 'important' person could give/take 4 points at a time? :)

Yours was the result of panic reactions.

That's what I thought, now that everyone has seen that the page isn't amazingly catastrophic without rep (thought it is missed), life can go on. Therefore, the results are much closer.

Voted not fot the rep system!.

The rep system only wants people to look at the other peoples rep so they can look up to them.

My second point is that most people only posted things to get a rep point.

I think without the rep system all people are more even and the forums will only bring the most usefull information.
And not the information only to get rep points.

People who post a lot are the true UCP members and not the one with the highest reps most of them have also the highest reps but they don't do it for the rep but just for the fun and having fun being at UCP.

UCP will always exist also without the rep system!

Yes. It is was pretty useful to be able to judge people.
If you were asking a question and then some guy with -23 rep like R34 answers you, then another guy answers you with a different answer that has +45 rep like motorhead, who are you gonna trust? I remember when I first joined this forum with Veyron I always knew who I could trust or not, which was very helpful. e.g.: I knew i could trust guys Like MotorHead because he had like Matra posts and like 50 rep.

BTW: I think the post counter and join date also helps.

I only got neg rep when I said the Prius was ugly....

I think the rep system kind of held this forum together, and once it left the whole forum just fell apart :(

Isn't the 'report bad post' button sufficient to keep things in line. I just joined the forum a couple of weeks ago and haven't lived with rep, but things seem to be functioning fine. Also, from what I've read the rep points tend to color what a person posts. Kind of a teacher's pet point system where certain posts might be viewed as PC, only posted for points.

And a little bit of joking around makes UCP more inviting. Afterall, this isn't a purely car problems info forum. You will take a final vote before establishing rep I hope.

I'm sitting on the fence !!!!!!!!

I saw the benefit and would enjoy it if it returned.

I see the drawbacks and would not lose sleep if it didn't.

They're 50:50, so with no proper option to express opinion I hold I reserve the right to vote "none of the above". With only 70 votes, we've no idea of how many are ambivalent to the issue :)

Rep isn't going to come back, is it? If it was, then this poll would be closed, taking in the fact that pro-reppers is constantly ahead of against people. Is a mod going to confirm this?

To be honest, I don't think it will. I'd bet that if against-reppers overtook the pro-reppers, the forum may have been quickly closed, then announced that "rep will not make a someback."
