Hi all......
I currently own a 67 shelby GT500 mustang, i was wondering is there anyone who noes if there is a kit available 2 transform my baby into "elelanor". i was thinking of buying an eleanor but then i thought im going to rebuild my mustang so why not jus rebuild it into an eleanor?
If anyone out there noes of such a kit add a thread to the site :D

Don't get the kit, you own the real thing. The Eleanor is for people who couldn't get a real GT 500. Just my .02

they're available. but as a mustang owner myself, i'm sorta sick of them, so i'd rather not see another eleanor, especially one that's based on an ACTUAL shelby.

if you must do it, get a normal fastback and do it to that.

just my $0.02

U should ask Carrol Shelby,his siganature don's the Mustang GT500E :)

thats not a movie look-a-like, thats carrol shelby whoring out his name for more money. personally, the shelby era should have stopped after the originals, or maybe after he made the "new" '66 shelby convertibles in '82, but that's stretching it.

the movie "shelby" was not a real shelby, and aside from the shelby hood, taillights, and dash panel, really had nothing to do with shelbys...it's given people a completely wrong, if glamorized, vision of what the real shelbys were like.

whats the difference between 'elenore' and the GT500?

hotwheels
11-23-2004, 06:30 PM
taz_rocks_miami is right, don't do it..........the elenore was never made to my knowledge, as an elenore........the gt500 well that speaks for itself.....we currently have a true shelby gt 500 sitting in the shop getting the engine rebuilt........car is beautiful, i know if i owned it, i would never change anything. I would go to concours condition.........just my .02 hotwheels

ive seen something on a workshop that will convert "normal" hardtops into eleanor lookalikes, and Shelby himself puts the compliance plates on and everything

Elenwhore was cool for about a month. Then I got sick of all the fanboys latching onto it. One of the things that's great about classic Mustangs is the fact that when it comes to personalization, these cars have one of the most extensive aftermarkets available to them of any car. There's no reason you can't build a car that's every bit as quality and aggressive as an Elenwhore, but different and suited to your own tastes.

why would you depreciate an original when you can get normal fastbacks made into an eleanor

KELSA
12-01-2004, 03:42 PM
a converted fastback is not a Shelby, never was, never will. in terms of depreciation, well i am not selling it.

hotwheels
12-04-2004, 08:17 AM
you are right, a converted fastback is not a shelby...........but taking a shelby and turning it into elenanor, isn't a shelby anymore either.........if that is a true shelby, you should really look at going concourse........i have a friend that has a true gt500 shelby here at the shop and it is probably worth 100k u.s. i wouldn't say that about an elenanor...............

I wouldn't be suprised that your friend's GT500 worth around 100K USD. And to be very honest with you, I myself don't really know what to put the price on my eleanor, it has too much modification to be an concorse original shelby. it has a full CVS kit which also comes with authentic paper.

But you will be wrong if you say my eleanor doesn't worth that much. I have been offered $250 AUD (amost $180K USD) by a well known businessman in Australia, and you may prompted to ask "Why didn't you sell it to that idiot", well like i said, its not for sale. but i guess we'll have to see about that in another 10, 15 years time.

And if park your friend's concorse GT500 with my Eleanor GT500, i also wouldn't be wrong to say that mine will get more (in fact a lot more) attention.

P.S. I did kept all the original parts came of the car, just in case if the next owner wanted to have them :D .

have a nice day

ah no disrespect intended mate...........nothin wrong with building a car to your taste, nothin at all..........heck, i took a low mileage 92 mustang and turned it into a twinturbo'd turd...........and i fully understand not wanting to sell it, if you like, there is no amount of money that can buy..........all though, all my stuff is for sale if the price is right...........people say" money can't buy you happiness", but i say "give me the money, cause i would sure like to try"

You might want to re-think the kit deal with your car. I am the dealer for Shelby Continuation project and we offer the GT 500 E. Our cars are the real deal and and come with Shelby ID numbers, are listed in the Shelby Registry and are signed by Mr. Shelby. If interested check out my website at www.trentperformance.com. The builder, Unique Performance, offers parts that might help you if you decide to re-build your car. If I was you, I would re-store to original and buy one of our cars.

 If you have an original GT 350, it would be a shame to do anything other than restore it! Cars like that are few and far between and should be kept as close to original condition as possible. I go to Lime Rock Park in CT every year and there a a ton of cool Shelby's there. Please don't change this piece of automotive history.

Just for reference's sake, I've seen a program about Eleanor. I can't remember the exact details, it was a long time ago, but what they did take stock Shelbies, restore the whole car to perfect state, do all the mods to make it incredibly powerful and the whole bodykit, to make it an exact lookalike. From memory around 100 were made, in 3 different stages. A 350hp version, a 500hp version and the ultimate 700hp version. I believe there were slight exterior mods which distinguished the different versions. It was shown on Discovery Channel some time ago. I cannot verify any of this information, my memory's not that good :p.
I just thought I'd add what I knew.

there is something called the Egg-Nog Test, which is you write your UCP name on a white peice of paper and put it against your car, and stick it over your gear leaver.

nothing against you personally but its just a rule in UCP when you claim you own a car, show us some proof ;) .
