Why did Mr Frederico Lamborghini decide to make automobiles?

I want the entire story and reason here mates.

IBrake4Rainbows
09-26-2004, 10:14 PM
He decided to make automobiles after he was refused an audience by Enzo Ferrari to complain about one of Ferraris cars he bought. Plus, he had a passion for fast cars, and thought he could mek one himself.

Is that the brother of Ferrucio Lamborghini, the tractor builder to become car constructor?

Yes mate you are correct, I am amazed with the knowledge that some people on UCP have good job to everyone. Well I have to think of a harder one.

It seems odd, but Ferrari Bought Maserati from Fiat, who Owns Ferrari.....

Thats what Googles telling me, anyway....

henk4

Maserati was owned by the Fiat group , and so is Ferrari. The fact that Maserati now comes directly under Ferrari does not mean a real change in ownership.

HMMM I've never heard of a business move like that before:confused: It's like GM allowing Chevy to buy Pontiac, I can't see the point in it. Does anyone know why Ferrari bought Maserati and how and why Fiat allowed it??

Fabio Ferrari
09-26-2004, 10:40 PM
You are both correct good job mates. Chrysler owned Maserati from 1988-1992 then it was bought by Fiat who then sold it Ferrari, a rather odd change in ownership because Fiat owns 90% of Ferrari which owns Maserati who was sold by Fiat. It was a complete 360o lol, Alright as for the next question.

What city in France are Citroens made in?

henk4

henk4

There are many places where Citroens are Manufactured, be more Specific.

What Model?

How do you explain the Maserati TC (Also known as the Chrysler Le Baron)?

The same car, badge engineered by Maserati to give them a convertable model.

henk4
09-26-2004, 11:01 PM
According to Fabio,, Chrysler owned Maserati from 1988-1992. I did some search on the TC (having never heard of the model before) and found that already in 1985 Lee Iaccoca pondered with the idea to get Maserati involved in a project. Obviously you don't have to own a company when you seek co-operation. (Ford and PSA are developing diesel engines together and give the same engine a different name TDCi-HDi when applied in their cars. There is no ownership relation between Ford and PSA as far as I nkow).

Alright well i have been proved wrong mate, I was positive that Maserati was owned by Chrysler, I guess i was wrong, well enough about this focus on the next question.

IBrake4Rainbows
09-26-2004, 11:04 PM
Fair Enough, but it does help when you own a company to be able to put it's badge, or yours, onto models that seem to work for them to work for you, just ask GM Daewoo....

So what's the most beautiful Maserati ever built?

My vote is for the Merak (the 3 litre smaller sister of the Bora) that handled like it was on rails ... and looked like it was born in heaven ... (despite it's hellish servicing bills ... and the fact that it shared it's assisted braking system with a few Citroens)

And Lamborghini's complaint that Enzo wouldn't grant an audience to the tractor maker for? ....
A clunky gearbox

Divided into a few parts (like the British motor industry):

Where are TVR's built?
What was the last TVR model to be exported to the States?
Who started the company and when
Who loved the cars so much that he just bought the company?

No Google searches allowed ... it removes the fun!!!

None of these quizes ever work just cuz of google. just type in "1975 Fiat X1/9" and BAM!

Or in my case, and others' too, we actually just guessed because we knew the answer... doing a online search is easy enough, but it kinda defeats the whole purpose of trivia...

Fabio Ferrari
09-27-2004, 10:06 PM

Good job mates, wow I am surprised with you knowledge. Alright for the next one.

Why did Ferrari give the name Testarossa to the 250 Testarossa and the 1984 Testarossa?

Because of the red-painted cylinder head valve covers. Testarossa = "Red Head" :)

Why did Karl Benz decide to name his auto maker Mercedes-Benz?

Mercedes was his niece. Who incidentally sneeked a drive before the cars debut.

fpv_gtho
09-27-2004, 11:08 PM
I thought the story went something along the lines of, this woman named Mercedes made a huge order of his cars which saved his business

EvilPaladin
09-28-2004, 02:52 AM
Mercedes was the surname of Emil Jellinek’s (Daimler dealer in Nice, France. I think that he financed Daimler too) daughter.
He raced Daimler cars, but under the name “Mercedes”.
He once said that he would buy a large amount of cars if he was granted exclusive selling rights for Austria (he was Austrian), Belgium, France and another country (maybe USA but I’m not sure) and if he could sell them under the Mercedes name.
Mercedes was then widely used due to Daimler's name being licensed in some countries like UK.

But I’m not 100% sure. :)

IBrake4Rainbows
09-28-2004, 05:14 PM
That sounds perfect. The story i heard is a businessman wanted to buy a lot of Daimler-Benzes, but would only do so if their names were changed so that his daughter, Mercedes, would be included.

Just backing you up their EvilPaladin!

Wasn't it that after Karl Benz had developed his car he was bankrupt and he went to a businessman who agreed to lend him money, only if he named the cars after his daughter - Mercedes?
