If you found yourself suddenly the inheritor of a fortune, what would you do?
I would build a car. Pieced together with what I like best.

-German body/chassis, somewhere between a BMW 3 and 5series.
-Japanese drivetrain, a Nismo version of the Nissan 4.5 V8.
-English woods and hides.
-Italian designed, Quattroporte-ish only smaller with more distinguised/dignified fascia.
-Assembled in Japan in a Toyota(Lexus) plant.
-Named after some African seasonal wind like the older Maseratis. Bora, Ghibli, Khamsine, there must be others.

Performance, fall where it may. At about 3,200 lbs, 50/50 weight distribution, and ~380 hp it would be machine to be reckoned with. R-version: 2,800 lbs and ~400 hp.

Big, long body. Say, 120-inch wheelbase, 200< overall length. But low and sleek, something along the lines of a '49-52 Mercury..

Engine: Don't care as long as it's big and torquey, and low-revving. A Chevy 454 or Ford 460 comes to mind, but mildly tuned to give, say, 400hp at least. Or an 8.1 Chevy if it has to be new.

Suspension: Something medium-soft, good for high speed stability as well as boulevard comfort. Maybe even air suspension, as long as it has a valve to keep the car from dropping all the way when it's off.

It would have all the basics covered, without excessive stuff. A/c, power windows/locks/steering/4-wheel-disc brakes/mirrors/seats, cruise, MP3/CD player, and a CB radio. Maybe navigation, but I'd probably rather do without. It would also have a 4-speed automatic with column shift and a good o'l split bench seat.

In real life, the '58 Cadillac I'm lusting for so terribly actually comes pretty close to this, so between the time I get one and whenever I get more money than God, that'll have to do. :)

My idea or perfect sedans are already on the road:

BMW M5 and the Audi RS6. The only thing they need to be beyond perfect are manual transmisions.
