Well your only going to be missing out on the Maserati MC12, Joss Supercar, Jag RD-6, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti........so its not like its important or anything....not to mention this mystery FPV and Torana concept

fpv_gtho
10-03-2004, 04:31 AM
Theyre going to be showing a Torana Concept with a twin turbo Alloytec, made on a modified Kappa platform, not the Commodore. The mystery FPV is, well i dunno. FPV have a silhouette on their site, and are claiming performance motoring is going to change forever. Well the Typhoon is already out of the bag, and the Mk2 GT is just a minor upgrade, especially compared to VZ, so its nothing special. I suggested on FAF.com that the reasoning for them bringing a GT over would be to showcase an FPV concept with the GT's supercharged engine, and some prick had a laugh at me....

the torana concept would be awesome, especially if they make a version with the alloytec190

what is the mystery fpv concept though?

Link for new torana.

I was heading up to bathurst for the weekend (I'm from melbourne), and have decided ever since I read about the torana concept 2-3 weeks ago on goauto, that we will slide across to sydney one night to see it.

Looking forward to it, not only for the torana, but for the VZ HSVs, and some FPV's as mentioned above. Sounds like this all might knock the socks of the local auto world for a while

i'm excited about this FPV Concept! I thought it could be a FPV Territory until I saw the Silhouette. Looks to me like its shaped like a coupe? Who knows! Maybe a Monaro rival at last, like the old XB GT Coupes..

A coupe would always be nice, but even the Monaro wouldnt succeed without exports and the current Falcon's already past the half way point so the business case would make absolutely no sence. I cant really see any difference in the body to be honest, ive seen alot of people get confused about the rear spoiler though..

Blue Supra
10-04-2004, 06:43 PM
A coupe would be an interesting addition... maybe it a concept for the next gen falcon?

Colty
10-04-2004, 08:07 PM
The spoiler is not the same as the current spoilers, UNLESS the silhouette in on an angle so it gives the illusion the spoiler looks different :o

2 MORE DAYS!!!! ~=D

Blue Supra
10-04-2004, 08:37 PM
Maybe its just a new spoiler:p

IBrake4Rainbows
10-04-2004, 08:44 PM
Maybe it's a Focus F6 or something.

I'm really looking foward to going, i'll see if i can get some ace pictures for you guys, you can make sure that i'll be scamming every brochure i can......

whiteballz
10-04-2004, 08:47 PM
well i sugested to my dad (also a car freak) that we head up there sometime, and he said yes! so it looks like i will be going! ! !

i will take the camera (6mp one) but i dont think i will have them that large, maybe 1mp to cram heaps of photos in!

oh im excited! maybe IB4R and i will catch up somewhere!

Blue Supra

A coupe would be an interesting addition... maybe it a concept for the next gen falcon?

well the all new model is slated for 2008, so providing Ford's still got its drip feed campaign, theyve either got ALOT of stuff to show between now and then, or its not a couple unfortunately....

The spoiler is not the same as the current spoilers, UNLESS the silhouette in on an angle so it gives the illusion the spoiler looks different

2 MORE DAYS!!!! ~=D

Yeah, its on an angle...on the Homepage you can see the silhouette in the middle (it flicks between than and the page for the Typhoon) and the rear spoiler still has the GT's and F6's 3 piers...

Maybe it's a Focus F6 or something.

I'm really looking foward to going, i'll see if i can get some ace pictures for you guys, you can make sure that i'll be scamming every brochure i can......

Theres been alot of rumours for an FPV Focus since Ford Oz couldnt secure any of the RS's before they sold out, and could be something to get an ARC entry ready.....cause it'll be a 4 cylinder though, maybe it'll be called F4....

is it just on this weekend? or is it on for 2? cause i wood go the weekend after i have commitements this weekend i cant bail on.

Its on 7-17th, i may get lucky and go on the first day, but otherwise i'll be going either on the 16th or 17th which'll be the 2nd weekend

Australia sees its fastest factory car ever
02oct04

It has a top speed of 395km/h and launches from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds.

This is said to be the fastest production car ever to be shown in the country and in just under a week it will be unveiled at the Australian International Motor Show.
It is the Swedish Koenigsegg CCR supercar, the brainchild of Christian Von Koenigsegg.

Under the bonnet lurks a 4.7-litre V8 that produces a massive 600kW of power and 920Nm of torque. The chassis and body have been made entirely of laminated carbon fibre and epoxy composite, the Koenigsegg weighing in just on 1180kg. Koenigsegg's international head of sales, Patrik Nilsson will unveil the $1.25 million car next Thursday. Despite its hefty tag, Nilsson says the car has generated a lot of interest.

"We've had a lot of interest in Australia -- it's been overwhelming, to say the least," he says.

"The sort of people who are interested in the Koenigsegg are super-performing car enthusiasts who want something unique, which reflects their own uniqueness."

Other super car show attractions are the Maserati MC12, Ford GT, Porsche Carrera GT, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, Pagani Zonda and Joss Supercar. The Koenigsegg uses a layer of Formula 1 style honeycomb spacing moulded into the body to achieve the best crash worthiness.

This is the first road car ever to have such technology. The car's beautiful shape was designed to minimise drag and the scissor-style doors and removable roof panel add to the wind-in-the-hair experience. It also features an oil-spray system to cool the pistons, a six-speed sequential transaxle gearbox and a titanium exhaust system.

The KACS (Koenigsegg Advanced Control System) allows the driver to adjust road-holding, suspension, aerodynamics and braking to suit their preferences. The show opens to the public from 5pm on October 7 and runs for the next 10 days.

The webcast for Ford just finished, there was no real mystery car, they only revealed the Fiesta ST and the F6 Typhoon, and announced the F6 Tornado (Ute).

Oh, and they brought a GT in. Really cool looking.

Maybe tommorrow, but unlikely.

The holden tarana concept is the VE that is what we will see in VE you can see VZ but that will be what we see in VE.
Funny how that looks like SSX, I think they done a great job on that car it's nice, Pass on the white intiria please:D and give me a man color:D
But i really like it it looks nice i could deal with commodores in 3 years time looking like that nice shape not to out there it's good:)

fpv_gtho
10-06-2004, 08:04 PM
That interior's a bit of an eyesore with the colour they picked, but overall it looks pretty good. you gotta remember though that its apparently based on Kappa, not Zeta

SlickHolden
10-06-2004, 08:59 PM
But it took holden to make something they made look good:D
And also it was never ment for anything other then a 4cyl:D
that's a challange to holden They can make anything when they try:)
Beat when GM seen holden made a TurboV6 for it they were thinking WTF!! How you do that lol:D

fpv_gtho
10-06-2004, 09:02 PM
They probably knew all along...how else would Holden have gotten their hand on a Kappa architecture....word has it its loosely based on it rather than 100$ Kappa, which could explain the TTV6 fitting in

I went today for a small period of time (got free tickets through 2UE, so went with workmates, I work in Newcastle), got shots of the car but not of the girl, now i'm kicking myself
anyone got any? tempted to go back (and pay for another ticket) just to get her photo :D

Patrik from Koenigsegg is extemely pleasant to deal with and nothing is to much trouble, including the fact my seated head hight is several cms above the roof line.

apart from those idiots in government to laugh at :p

its a good place to own a house though, something like no sales tax for the first year or something, i heard it on the TV the other night, all to do with it being a territory and not a state

Colty
10-16-2004, 02:13 AM
Well it seems ACT have a better premier, or can theyre be a premier or a territory?

fpv_gtho
10-16-2004, 02:19 AM
ive never heard of a premier in ACT or NT but i thought the only difference in their government was 2 senators compared to our 6

Blue Supra
10-16-2004, 02:48 AM
We have a "Chief Minister" we're actually having our local elections atm, ACT is best coz its got 80kph - 100kph zones out the wazoo (meaning theres heaps of em) few speed cameras, few traffic cops, lots of roundabouts (can be good, can be bad) low taxes, no smog, cheaper housing, great night life (highest ratio of nightclubs to population in Aus) We;re having an international standard dragway built... it just keeps gettin better an better!

fpv_gtho
10-16-2004, 02:50 AM
hmmm...maybe i'll move there :p

treat those roundabouts like chicanes :p

Blue Supra
10-16-2004, 03:05 AM

10-16-2004, 03:15 AM

Blue Supra
10-16-2004, 03:42 AM
was going to be a 2L and 5 speed goin in, but at 2k for just the engine in...
wasnt worth it so i went off the idea and now i may be buyin a RX7 tomorrow:D

fpv_gtho
10-16-2004, 03:47 AM
ooo....prety nice...

only thing is, rotaries dont really have the low down torque to spin the wheels through a roundabout, unless of course you plan on doing it with 6k rpm on the engine, which could be a handful tryig to juggle car control, revs and a clear state of mind :p

Blue Supra
10-16-2004, 03:49 AM
its easily doable, iv been having to do since i started driving, i kick it back into 2nd hold it at max rpm while i slide, pump the throttle to keep em up and then slide out and away, easier then it sounds after enough practice...

this is the turbo model too
ive got 200 ponies to play with as oposed to less then 100 atm:)

fpv_gtho
10-16-2004, 04:08 AM
well experience is priceless....:p

the turbo model could prove a bit of a handful, but probably in a "fun" way :p. driving along, under boost, pop a powerslide, just for it to do barely anything, then the power comes on and WHAM your sideways :p

Blue Supra
10-16-2004, 04:10 AM
im goin to go soft on it for 3 months or so, its big step up so i wanna get used to it b4 i try anything "dangerous" and considering its 5.5k for comp insurance...

im only getn 3rd party prop..

fpv_gtho
10-16-2004, 04:21 AM
thats always a good thing to do, at least get to drive the car before its bent around a telegraph pole, which is the last place you want to see a turbo RX-7

fpv_gtho
10-17-2004, 01:21 AM

SlickHolden
10-17-2004, 03:29 AM

you better only be doing that on the freeway, or when your absoloutely sure theres nobody around, because if one thing goes wrong at that speed, anyone could end up getting killed.

fpv_gtho

My sisters street, It is a drag strip, There are more black tyre marks on that street then any street in the country by far, No kids no people walk onto this road, Even the cats drag you serious, That was the first time i done it on that street, Cause we have been onto the cops about the cars that turn at the corner and burn rubber for 3min, One guy drove down the road got to the end couldn't pull up, Blown the front tyre, And wen't into someone's front fence ran from the seen, So we don't know if it was stolen or he just paniked?
But as for the cops they don't go down back streets they sit on main roads,
Over here, One night i could hear this car screaming big V8 sound wheelies and then nothing, I turned to my mum and said that car just smashed, She laughed at him, I said get your shoes on lets look, Yep he wen't straight into a pole, The pole was about half way into the bonnet, It was a 1 tonne HQ ute, Then a car comes around the corner a AU falcon we think it's the cops, No, It was the dick that just smashed the ute into the pole, And he was pissed, Cops came and took him, this was 2001 And my mum and i were just walking on that road 15min earlyer we back then did a late night walk:eek:

my street was a bit like that a couple of years back before they put a set of lights near it that started putting more traffic on it, and now theres the bus route on it. the sad thing though is just 50m away from my house is a primary school

and pulsar, be prepared to see the CCR, MC12, C12S, RD-6, GT, GTSR, Torana and many other cars that were shown there as they wont bring them back twice without good reason

thats gotta be annoying, with the bells and stuff, i went out to Hume last night where theres about a 1.5kay straight, middle of an industrial area no traffic, got the datto to 150 before i had to start braking, i can see why its a common drag area, its easily wide enough for 4 cars, not that iv ever participated or anything, id getmy arse handed to me...

Side by side dragging on a public street is differnt, To someone just sticking the boot into it. For me the only 4 times i have been over the speed limit has been,
1. My nephews party My sisters VL Calais she was drunk she wanted to do wheelies and wouldn't get out of the car, So i said to her move over i'll do a couple make you happy but your not driven, So tryed to do one bloody thing wouldn't do it great brakes, So i gunned it up the road about 170Kph came back stuck the car away.
2. Once in my old gemini my bro and i were testing it out cause it's got fule problems, Got it to 140Kph in second miss fired and splutterd it's arse off.
3. HSV on the freeway was cutting in and out of traffic like a king dick, Cut me off so i speed up next to him and the look on his face was priceless:D About 140-145Kph
4. This was the worst. My sister was having a baby and she started to have problems bleeding, Ambo came for her and needed to rush her to hosp, Only problem was my nephew and neice were there he was 8 and she was 2.
And they were in weeribee, And we were in St-Albans thats a 50Min drive away, And they were taking her straight away, And the kids were going to be on there own, And she only has my mum my brother and i. And brother was in jail and it was only mum and i so we hit the gass and the nitro went blast, Got there in 18Min I dont know speeds was to scared to look :( I did some bad things on that night like go through red lights not at 100Kph i slowed looked and went, Guess we were lucky it was 3am. When my sister had her first child she almost died of the same thing, My mum was telling me to go faster you know mums they will do anything humanly possabile for there kids when there in need like that.

Other then that i'm a limit sitter never go over more then 5kph. But i do love that push you in the seat feeling it's great, Get my car i might head down the calder park for a night:D

IBrake4Rainbows
10-18-2004, 11:27 PM
I disagree a bit on the road front. yes, the roads are alright when it comes to surfacing, but because everything is so spread out in Canberra (the Territory is the city basically. To travel from my friends place in Belconnen to my place in Tuggeranong took me nearly 45 minutes to do) with vast expanses of nothing in between the sattelite cities, it's no wonder the roads have to be good. I will say one thing; I like the policy about learners allowed to travel at the speed limit, rather than be limited to 80 Kp/h......

Blue Supra
10-18-2004, 11:41 PM
Damn right about the learners, i loved overtaking NSW L platers when i was learning, was funny as, second time i ever drove i got RBTd so funny. yeh queanbo is closer then belco, but still the reason our roads are good is as you said, but also cause of the absence of a middle man (local council) funding comes directly from the govt to road maintenence coffers.

IBrake4Rainbows

thats a bit stupid the 80km/h rule.....5 years ago you could just think how many P platers on their first day just planted it on the freeway first chance they get, now they get the 90 and 100 limit but theyre by themselves in the car so whats really stopping them....

staying on the speed limit isnt THAT hard. you just gotta make gentle adjustments all the time.

i usually just sit like 1-2km/h under the limit, when im 5 under i give it a bit more, when i hit the limit i'll let it slip but if it goes over i'll just back off a nudge.....its the little hills that are the problem, but theres this one big hill near my dads that really gives me the shits in his landcruiser. going up i'll try and keep giving it more but it wont stay at the limit, then just as the road flattens out, its as if all that extra acceleration that never worked all of a sudden comes on so i gotta jump off the accelerator a bit :p

yeah hills are pretty crap, but its easy to anticipate when you need to lift of the throttle a bit. when i go down hills i usually start accellerating near the bottom, and then just let it go up the other side by itself for a bit. generally drift about 5-10kph over, but never more than that.

also, with long straight 50 zones (stupid government) i sometimes dont look at the speedo, and drift up to 60-65, and suddenly have to slow down :D

well they reckon by lowering all the speed limits its "supposed" to save lives of the kids running around like idiots on the street, despite all the cars getting safer as far as braking and ABS go.....maybe if most of the drivers out there on the road actually knew ABS doesnt make the braking distances smaller, it makes it safer to swerve out of the way

Blue Supra
10-20-2004, 11:41 PM
mmmm. my car doesnt have ABS... 40 zones i obey as a rule.

fpv_gtho
10-20-2004, 11:56 PM
that reminds me of another problem with ABS cars....the drivers dont always push the brake pedal right in when they need to stop quickly, apparently the sensors work so that if theres medium effort put and the brakes lock up, it wont do anything unless its near full pressure put on the brakes...

Colty
10-21-2004, 02:24 AM
In america they raised the speed limit and there actually less deaths when it happened, probably because when ur traveling at a higher speed u are more awake so ur me alert so u can drive better, like serzly, 100km/h does get deadly boring after a while

they actually pay attention to the facts though......theres countless stories of the Oz government producing fake figures to justify their stupid speeding campaigns.....as Colty said, around 100km/h for a couple of hours gets boring, if your allowed to drive at an ungoverned speed, logic says you wont go faster than you can handle, and if you on the edge, your more alert

Blue Supra
10-21-2004, 06:04 AM

Sydney has been getting some decent rain past few days, although itll still take 100INCHES thats INCHES, not millimetres, and 100, not 10, to get Warragamba dam back to its original state, but even then, they only keep Warragamba at like 70-80% full, otherwise they get worried about the flood gates collapsing because of the movement in rocks in that area, its kinda not helping the gates strength. If the dam ever breaks, then Penrith will be im not sure if its 19feet or 19metres underwater, SCARY :s

HAR HAR HAR fpv. lol.

thanks but no thanks simon.

i will go to the formal in my friends (on this site he is called shifty) rally car.
he is 13! and has a rally car. 1998 wrx STI two door rally car. his dads ex car, sold it to someone else. then bought it back.

they also sold their other 4 rally cars
so now they have only two STI rally cars, and 04 and a 98.

fpv_gtho
10-25-2004, 03:32 AM
These are just Group N cars right?

whiteballz
10-25-2004, 03:34 AM
no
these two are group A. he sold his three other group N cars.
the group A cars are awesmely faster.

fpv_gtho
10-25-2004, 03:36 AM
what would the specs be for Group A? im only really familiar with what the WRC runs and Group N

whiteballz
10-25-2004, 03:39 AM
group a allows changes to the majoroty of the car, i dont think there are any restrictions on what you cant change, just how much.

30mm restrictors, ummm... cant really remember much else then that...
it locks the car down to 300 (?) hp (roughly) and his dad (who knows a shitload about rally cars) said that if they didnt run restrictors, they would be pushing close to 500 hp.
(thats with other minor changes.

fpv_gtho
10-25-2004, 03:42 AM
sounds like they got the boost up high then to aid the lower part of the rev range, and the restrictors to stop high range....i suppose it'd be a bit too expensive to have the anti lag systems

Colty
10-25-2004, 03:49 AM
It wouldnt be road registerable would it?

around here you can go into the 9hp carts without a license and any previous experience if your over 15, higher than that's the 13hp carts, but you need to be 17 and have driven the 9hp's......ANYWAY..my brother's not the smallest of blokes and he had fun in a 9hp cart..

as for that seat Bluey, i dont think it will be too hard if you get it done properly, surely getting an engineers certificate for a seat is overkill, but i wouldve thought since theres no airbags, no electronic aids for the seatbelts etc you'd get away with it....new cars practically have NO market for replacement steering wheels, and even non genuine seat covers or replacement seats

Blue Supra
10-26-2004, 05:53 AM
I wont bother getting it engineered, thats a waste of money when i getting a licensed mechanic to do it:p
yeh all the safety equipment and everything would just be a nightmare for an aftermarket parts fitter in a modern car:eek:

you cant put aftermarket seats in a car with side airbags. does your car have side airbags?

Blue Supra
10-26-2004, 06:35 AM
does my car have side airbags??? well its 26 years old... what do YOU think it has:p

fpv_gtho
10-26-2004, 07:30 AM
cause of that, im surprised Holden and Ford havent capitalised with things like iDesign and HBD offering replacement, sports bolstered seats......if you take servicing as an example for how much extra they charge, they'd be cracking a gold mine i reckon...

Blue Supra
10-26-2004, 08:51 PM
thats very true, i saw for sale on Ebay a complete VY SS interior with a reserve of 1000 bucks, yesterday it was up to 2k:eek:

danno
10-27-2004, 12:45 AM
yeah, although i dont imagine there being a huge market for it at the moment, but in 5-10 years when they have all come down in price (the ones with side airbags) there will be a huge market for it. i could see holden or ford doing something like that then.

fpv_gtho
10-27-2004, 12:47 AM
theres not even a market for aftermarket seat covers, as more than half of the side airbags are mounted in the seats....

SlickHolden
