1 - Mercedes-Benz CLK 430 - a reasonably fast and good looking car that would take me from A to B with confort and style;
2 - BMW M3 - a faster and more pimp than the CLK, would serve me well for social ocasions such as pimpin', attracting bitches, attracting attention, taking the ladies around and taking the friends around and to parties. Did I mention the awesome engine and performance?
3 - Ferrari 360 Modena - I'd only drive it to show off and have some real fun behind the wheel

hmmm...not a really hard question, but this did take some thinking. I would have to say with choosing the most expensive and exotic cars would be too easy, so im gonna choose cars i would get being a millionaire, and not a multi-millionaire

1) 2004 Ford GT 40, a classic race car brought back to reign terror on the italian super cars, this car will blow away the Modena and Gallardo, not to mention annihilate the Viper and make Dodge think twice before bashing the F 150 with their plans for a fast truck!

2) 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra, *favorite car, and true eutopian feeling driving this monster, nothing is sweeter for destroying rice burners!

3)Jaguar XKR-R, I thought choosing a luxury car would be nice, and why not travel in style when you can do it over 140mph.

Just looked at the Esthi and noticed that fuel capacity is only 32 litres, that would give you a range of less than 200 km's. Just thinking about what you said elsewhere on the diesel/petrol forum.
Anyway, I think this car will show the Carrera GT who is boss on steep and winding roads. Good choice!

As I said, "not a true Lotus, but an Elise S2 with an Audi 2.7TT Engine"

It's not a factory Lotus, but rather it's an extreme tuned version with a rediculous power-to-weight ratio due to an implanted Audi engine.

i have a few questions about this:
Do they have to be road legal?
Do 2 million dollar RVs count as cars?
also, do they have to have 4 wheels?

Anyway if the answers are yes, no, and no then:

2) RX8, supped up and limoafided
3) and for kicks a Renault 1910, with a hydrogen fuel cell and high power electric motors (Renault 1910 (http://www.art.com/asp/sp.asp?PD=10034559&RFID=571189))

Changed my mind, again... However, I will elavorate in this reply in an attempt to bring more substance to this thread.

The streets in Brazil are not notorious for their smoothness and quality, so one of cars has to be very civilized. But I also want it to have a decent engine that can give me good performance and allow me to safely travel on any interstate without shitting my pants whenever I have to pass more than one veichle or a long truck on an uphill slope at the same time. My first car would be a Golf GTI. I don't know what engine it has in your country, but here in Brazil we can get it with the 150hp 1.8 turbo or a 180 hp version, it wouldn't make a real difference to me. My second car wouldn't have to be so compromized with comfort. I would rarely take it to the interstates, for the sake of preserving it, and I'd mostly use it at night or whenever I wanted to impress people more than with a simple Golf GTI. So this car would have to be considerably faster than the Golf, and considerably faster than the majority of the cars on the road, remember, this is Brazil, not Los Angeles, we don't have so many supercars around. With all this in mind, my choice would be the M3, again. At last, I would want a car that would serve no civilized purpose, it would only be good for showing-off and endangeriing myself and other whenever I felt like bring terror into the streets by driving over 250km/h. Would I take it to the interstates? Yes, if I was so ****ing rich I didn't actually care, but I don't think I'll ever be. Anyhow, this car would have to be faster and at least 99,9% of all cars in town, no matter what. And it would have to be very rare, I wouldn't like to see hillbillies running around in the same car I did. My third and last car would be an F50. No matter how much supercars and exotics have evolved, there are still very few cars that can match it and, kwoing how awesome I drive, nobody would be able to beat me in it, even if they pulled a Zonda, Koenigsegg or S7 against me. Of course I mean driving with corners and everything, and not that simple drag-strip-stop-light acceleration contest; I'll leave that to the commoners.

So the three cars are VW Golf GTI, BMW M3 and Ferrari F50.

kiwitt

1) Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 - Type S - "mine" :D

I consider this car as an M5, with a EVO chassis. i.e. a real wolf in sheeps clothing. Nothing better, for scaring boy-racers.

2) Porsche 959 Bi-Turbo - Gruppe B

It will be a long time before, I ever remove this from my top 3. Even the Latest 911 Turbo 4WD, doesn't equal it yet.

3) Ferrari 288 GTO - "Original"

This has the Ferrari "shape" i.e. 308/328 GTB, but gently tweaked/stretched and slots added.

3. '63 Ferrari 250 GT 2+2

1) Camaro ZL1 or 1LE (manual) as a daily driver. Why? decent back seat, decent ride, decent trunk, but still a sports car. Good GT car.

2) Elise SC--Fun weekend/track car. I love Lotus.

3) Silverado 4x4 extended cab z71. I hunt/fish/boat/live in a place with lots of snow.

Welcome back RJ!

Welcome back RJ!

hahaha thanks! I've been lurking every once in a while. I recently got a new job and baby so I havent had much time to post but I plan to start up again, including an update on my misadventures.

Its nice to see that the core group is still active on here!

RJ, have you seen the vid of the ZL/1 making a lap on the Nurburgring? That one should put a lot of Camaro naysayers on mute.

Grats on the baby. I have a 2nd one on the way myself. There's nothing quite like it!

Today it would be:

Passat TDi wagon...I'd swap a manual trans in there
Audi A6
'91 Chevy full-size Blazer

Don't ask why.

By no means my top 3 all time but just off the top of me brain:

355
L88 C3
4th Gen Legacy Wagon

22 Ford with Chevy 235
1967 Beetle
1975 Toyota Corolla

All i think about lately is cars that go on forever and ever that dont need to be fixed ever. Or are at least easy to work on.

22 Ford with Chevy 235

A fine choice. I'm partial to the '27s myself. Would like a straight 8, even toyed with the idea of a Jag or Lincoln V12, but I am partial to 6 cylinders as well. At various times have wanted a big block six (292 Chev, 300 Ford, Chrysler Hemi Slant 6), one of DeLorean's Pontiac OHC I6's, or just a plain old built 235. Right now that's the motor I want in a '58-'60 Chevy 9-passenger wagon. Back it up with a 3-speed and one of those overdrive units, and we're good to go.

I like 6 cylinders too. In my mind they are inherently the most reliable engine design. I love the Ford 300 engines too, but I'm a chevy guy, so i can't have none of that. You know what they say, if you want to make a ford go faster, put in a chevy motor!

If you've ever watched 007 Goldeneye, the scene immediately after the opening credits where Bond is racing the woman in his Aston is what got me into six cylinders.

And for some reason the woman that goes with Bond isn't specially hot.

Strangely.

Still, if you want to get reacquainted with the straight six there's always Ronin and the E34 M5 through the streets of Paris.

Coincidentally, that movie was on again yesterday. Watched the hell outa that scene again!

Today I would have:
E46 M3 convertible
2nd Generation Volvo V70R
And...not picky tonight...some early 50s cruiser. As long at it's set down low, is running on steelies and wide whites, and has a straight six, I don't care.

Possibly the best engine ever made. Possibly.

Or something.

Today's 3:
VW Jetta Wagon 2,5l and manual trans (might buy)
Cadillac ATS - turbo four and manual
1959 Chevy Belair 235 straight six, 3-on-the-tree with overdrive unit.

I have just noticed I have become a manual trans whore. Used to be ambivalent...that changed when I started riding motorcycles and driving the SVT Focus whose motor features in my outdated avatar.

I5s are too vibey.

I'd rather have the Diesel. But they are too spendy, can't make that money back in fuel savings. Besides, the acceleration is apparently reasonably spunky. Or maybe I am talking myself into it.

Or something.

Have you been in an I5 VW? I sat and revved a Jetta and it was just noisey, unhappy, and vibey. Puke. My neighbour has a new Jetta TDi wagon and it works about 50% of the time, as it is a VW.

Or something.

Is that you Ferrer?!

No, but been in a couple of I5 Volvos. They seemed to be OK.

Manual is better than auto.

They are more involving, use less fuel, have more control over what the car is doing and they are safety feature because you have to concentrate.

Oh and they make you more attractive to members of the opposite sex. Except if you live in Europe.

Bugger.
