Well its a showstopper, its supposed to attrat your attention enough to drag you over to the holden stand where hopefully the rest of the VZ range, new astra etc. will get you interested in a Holden and i think with a colour like metallic pink, a bright white interior and pink glowy bits it achieves that :p

I actually used a replace colour function in 'Corel Photo Paint', I use Corel DRAW for a living, so had a play with photo paint while at work.

Actually was trying to get the green identical to mine, but I went any brighter with the color change the picture would start to screw up, so thats as bright as it could go while retaining quality.

Since its friday, I'll have a play with some other colors later today :rolleyes:

make it into a coupe and with that motor you'd have something to give M3s and 911s a run for their money

Caarn :D , this green is clearly brighter, and limer, lol. Stuff the SSX, lol, I was taking the green from my LJ torana...

On that note any requests for moree colors?

Holden used to have a color called Mandarin Red that was from the 70's.

I'll attempt a blood orange torana concept. But the brighter colour sometimes don't work with replacing colors, as th picture screws up. Got lucky with the green though :D

Syracuse (or whatever) is a bit boring to have on the torana. The colour IMO should be all in your face 70's flamboyance, lol

Here a couple of pics of LJ toranas in Lone-Oranger (orange), Indy Orange (LC GTR with black stripes on corners), and in Tangerine Red.
I got Tangerine mixed up with Mandarin, easy mistake, lol, although i am sure there is also a Mandarin Red color.

Not sure, but it is a little over the top. You'd need a periscope to drive the bloody thing but, its a bit hard to see the thru the turbos and superchargers :D

well they had the air coming into the first supercharger, a GM 8/71, then that fed into the 2nd supercharger, a GM 6/71...then that all went into the engine, i dont know if it was injected or not though

Tiga mica is a different colour to the one posted above. It less orange and more bronze I think.

The new 'turismo' blue is a nice colour. But I had the pleasure of seeing that color on the first model 'new generation' monaro as Mike Simcoe (monaro designer) lived about 5 mins from me, so I would occasionally see him driving around in it.

i think the problem with Tiger Mica was it was offered across the range....it may have started out as an SS colour, but then dealers offered to paint anything from an Executive to a Caprice in it i guess, so the idea of a hero colour kinda fell apart i guess

Back to the thread, the original "strike me pink" color looks pretty good on the original torana. It was such a good color that in the 70's blokes were able to like it while been comfortable with they're heterosexuality.

thats really my only criticism for it, its paleness, everyone else is going for the glossy metallics.......it wouldnt realy surprise me if its like that yellow in that it really only looks good on the Monaro, although ive seen the odd yellow Ute that looked pretty decent

i saw the yellow XR6T ute at SMS and that looked pretty hot, its got a nice dark tinge to it like its got a bit of a shadow on it, looks pretty sweet

apparently the new Red Ford came out with is pretty good, the old one was Venom and has been around since 2000, but this new one supposedly is brighter...

something funny about the GT's though, the bonnet bulge absolutely sticks out of nowhere on them, i remember walking down the main road here and probably 300-400 metres away i could see a lime green GT down the road and i swear, maybe it was the light or something, but i could see the bulge clear as daylight

they really got a completely different look to them than HSV.....thats more of an agressive sharp edged in your face look....FPV seem to go with a bit more conservatism, although the BA to start with is pretty conservative so they didnt really have all that much to work with other than the XR headlights, but its a good place to start at least

Oh yeah, i honestly think (and this is from a holden man) that the BA looks better then the VY, the bonnet bulge just sets it off nicely:) sorry slick:p

Holden stated that the Torana would cost about as much as a Commodore to produce, so it looks difficult. But definately possible (If they can dig up the cash!!)

Theyre either doing something wrong then, or not utilising their sources good enough if thats the case. Might seem like harsh judgement but alot of work went into VE, so it sounds like Torana they'd plan on going with a completely unique set of componentry.

Makes you wonder whether dropping the Opel sourced Vectra was an initial step before production of a new Torana began to fill its place as a premium/sports product.

Some have said they don't have the architecture for it, But given Holden's experience in building anything from any car I'm sure they can make it off what they did with the concept.
Maybe they need some overseas interest and maybe they have it? There was talk of it being a Opel maybe a Saab maybe a daewoo also???, If people want it enough GM will OK it as long as it gets around they wont allow holden to make it for us only no way them days are gone it's all about sharing and saving now.
