I'm picking this 944 up tomorrow... already put a $500 down payment on it.

It's a 1984 - 5-speed manual, leather interior, power options, etc. It's a rare colour from Porsche called "Kalahari Platinum" - kind of a shiny light bronze - a bit hard to describe.

The car was brought up from Arizona a few years ago and the body on it is perfect. Absolutely no rust whatsoever. It's got a few new things and some suspension goodies as well - I'll do a full report as soon as I pick it up.

I got a very good deal. Total cost for the car is $3500 CAD ($2800 USD, €2250)

Now I just need to sell the 914 :)

Congrats!!! That's a nice ride!!! I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from it for many years to come :) Oh, and don't forget to do your own test on it ;)

It's too bad Porsche stoped making the 944 and the 928. Porsche could have refined them over time like they've done with the 911.

Very solid car. Impressively large and powerful 4 in there, and IMO the best looking cheap porsche (no offense to your 914 or anything). It even beats the 928 in my book. Consider the turbo or S editions? That was one car I definately had my eye on...check out the new photos of the quattro I got. And if you're ever on the east coast, i'll race you down storrow :-D

What are you and Nigel up to? Getting both new cars at the same time :)

Congrats, I'll be here waiting for some pics :)

This particular car caught my eye because of the price :) - I got it for around half of what most 944 models are going for in my area. I'd love another, especially a 944S2 or a Turbo, but this one is amazing for the price, which is what counts right now. Also, the standard model is known to be very reliable, which is a definite plus for me right now :)

hehehe I'll buy the 914 :D jk

anyway, I could questiona bout the rarity of hte colour, there's one always parked in a lot in Thiensville that colour, and I see another one that colour around the city often.

nice choice, a solid everyday car, solid performer, all good :)

The exterior of this car really is in immaculate condition. Shawn is really lucky to have found this and be the first one to go and see it. Once he gets it, we are surely going to go on some kind of crazy new car road trip with the honies. We will post pics :D

The reason why I didn't consider getting a 968 is the same reason why I didn't consider getting a Carrera GT ;)

do you have a thing for porsches, or is it just that you pick good affordable cars?

Niko: You might like to check out some photos I posted way back of a Red 968 Turbo. It's a beautiful example: http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3932

The latter. I find that Porsche makes good cars, but I didn't buy either of my cars because of the marque. This one in particular just seemed to fit what I was looking for in a car.

in addition to this car being a 944, which is a good car all round, this particular one is a great deal, and in really good shape. a great find that is the result of lots of looking around.

EDIT: ...*psst* ... *post my pics please*

Nice car...great condition. You'll love its handling. Some time back(~'96) I had an '84, same color but no leather. Fantastic cars, but mine had been abused and I couldn't keep up with the maintenance so I sold it. If I find some old pics I'll post them. I had the rear valance and BBS wheels.

Very nice, have fun!

A while back I saw a 968 in a shopping center parking lot! It was parked towards the back, unfortunatly I didn't have my digital camera with me, pluse I was runing late, but I did at least get to see one in person I suppose. Inside and out was flawless, good to see someone that drives the car, and takes so well care of it :) You do the same :p

Itwas a wonderful car, but I ended up not getting it (as I've mentioned in this thread :))... I am however, getting an even nicer 944 the day after tomorrow. Pictures and updates then. :D

I am from Horseshoe Bay, but that picture was taken downtown :)

Do you still need to sell your 914 for this new 944?

I was going to say congrad last time. I didn't, because I found out about the unfortunate event after reading the whole thread. But hey, that's how you get a nicer 944 now, right?

Egg Nog
10-27-2004, 10:16 PM
Nope, I didn't need to sell it. I am trying to now, though...

By the way I just drove home in a Beautiful 1986 Silver 944 :D

I'll get a bunch of good photos and do a write-up tomorrow. It's night 'round here, so it's not like it's an awesome time for a photoshoot :)
