Which car sound makes you fall to your knees and bow to the engineers of that holy engine... :D

IMO no sound can mess with Aston Martin engines...
The V12 Vanquish and the DB9 have a sound like...

Haven't heard many in person, but as far as videos go...

The Pagani Zonda has a great sound (Watch Top Gear, Zonda vs Murcielago)

There's a video posted around here of a Gallardo with Tubi exhaust.... Nice.

I also like the sound of Corvettes when they are well built up and with a nice exhaust system... The sound is just powerfull, scares you away :)

Than it's got to be the 360 Stradale. Oh, and all Diablos.

If you include race cars, it's got to be the BDA, the Stratos G4 and the CSL Batmobile (sweet straight 6).

This saturday I went for a ride in friends 2nd generation M5 with full alluminium exhaust, and it sounded like heaven on wheels. Like my beloved Depeche Mode said, "I just can't get enough" from the BMW straight 6.

sadly enough, the best sounding engine I can think of is the one from the infiniti SUV (it's sad, I know)! The dad of a friend I know has one, and when he floors it, that baby sounds hot. it really goes, too.

I really do hate SUV's, but I have to say this one sounds awesome

Race Car: BRM V16
Race Car/Road Car: Ford GT40
Road Car: Austin-Healey 3000.

These are all from personal experience although I am yet to drive a GT40 or a BRM V16. :D

I dont have a favourite overall sound ... i like to organise them into category :D

Linear sound - Vanquish
Crazy Sound - Zonda or Cerbera Speed 12 (The Speed 12 is possibly the most violent sounding car ever!)
Gruff sound - GT40 for certain. If youve heard the new GT then you realise that its actually nothing like its predecessor .. the GT40 had a huge engine sound, the GT sounds like an XJ220 (which sounds like a Citroen Xantia .. really .. it does)

I'd have to say Mclaren F1 gtr, the screaming V12's exhaust note cuts right through you and makes your ears hurt.

Inline 4's with turbos sound good??? When and where? Try a Renault 5 GT Turbo for example. It's sound sucks. I've had a 18 Turbo. Is sounded like an AX 1.0 :D

Turbo cars usually have nasty sounds. Exception made for the Quattro.

I love the sound of the 360 Challenge Stradale, it is simply amazing, but there are many cars who also sound amazing, like the Vanquish and the 911 GT2

Yes it has. It has a handmade all alluminum exhaust, without the catalizator and with indepent manifold.

10-21-2004, 05:31 PM
maybe the pagani zonda, the version with the 7.3 liter engine........just plain god......any real muscle car engine too, like the viper, or any other that makes a deep rumble, not some high pitched ear shattering shreak. so yeah, basically any muscle car rumble, plus a few others such as the pagani zonda

Older race V12s. If you like the rumble of a big V8 and think it's intimidating. Compared to the screechy howl of a 330 P3, it's like the bark of a Rottweiler against the bellowing cries of a Cerberus, the three headed demon hound that guards the entrace to the underworld. This is the difference in sound, one you take notice of its potency but the other you feel fear and chills run down your spine.

My favourite performance sound would be from one of the Twin Turbo Callaway Corvettes. The president of our local Corvette club owns one and it sounds like a cross between the intimidating rumble of a V8 with the whirring of a Harrier Jump Jet taking off.

The other less performance-orientated sound I like is from my old man's 1995 Landrover Discovery Tdi. The sound of a turbo diesel makes me feel like I am driving a prime mover.

The 2002 mustang has a sound that would make even Karrmann think differently of Ford's. The Panoz Roadster (which also uses a mustang engine) has a simply incredible engine tone, the most muscular sound from a car I have EVER heard.

i dont know about that. they 'scream' too much, i prefer the deep rumbly tones for a car.

A supercharged V8, or an old, 1960's/1970's muscle car V8. A V8 of some sort or another...

IWantAnAudiRS6
11-06-2004, 05:29 PM
Cases in point of a supercharged V8 are:
1) Mustang concept 2005
2) Ford GT
3) Mercedes McLaren SLR- boy what a noise!

Ordinary, unsullied V8s:

1) Any muscle car- just watch "Bullitt" for proof.

An Audi RS6...

Saw a Dodge Viper GTS today, sounded like a ricer with a fart can. Pretty disapointing, I didn't think Vipers sounded THAT bad. :(

yeah, but even though the performance of the LMP01 roadster isn't great, the sound makes up for it and then some :D
