By nice I meant the 1/4 mile run... The car is just an old civic hatch.

It doesn't look ricy and it is street legal :)

Not bad... I'm thankful that the guy didn't turn it into a NASCAR stock car and start plastering it w/ stickers.

Street legal except for the drag slicks and probably racing gas :p

whats with u americans and civics??? hahasee, you have to realize that as long as one doesn't layer their car with stickers and spoilers, the car's most likely fine with us. This is a perfect example of a dude having a shit car, then turning it into something very fast without adding worthless parts.

Street legal except for the drag slicks and probably racing gas if it's street legal, it won't be using race-level gas. It's not like you can run regular petrol one day, then racing gas the next in the same engine.

Sure you can: if the engine is turbocharged, you just turn up the boost.

Sure you can: if the engine is turbocharged, you just turn up the boost. You still have to use the same fuel. increasing the boost of your turbocharger just forces more air into the cylinder, and then more fuel goes in.

And if you put in too much, you get premature detonation. So, you use a higher octane racing fuel (100+) and it does not detonate prematurely, even with the higher boost.

still the liklihood of it happening to have a turbo and a boster is pretrty unlikely. I'm betting the engine's been stroked, bored, got lightweight parts, and nitrous oxide.

This is an economy car, its going to need more than just nitrous to get through the 1/4 mile under 11 seconds while still remaining drivable...

You can clearly see the intercooler on it so it defiantly has a turbo.

Aftermarket chip companies can make multi-map chips. You can drive around all day in a 93/94 program, then go to the strip on Saturday, and change to 100+ octane programming. Most companies use the cruise control stalk or a series of radio controls. And some include a 'valet' setting, which will set a low rev limiter for trips to the dealer or upscale restaurants. So it's very plausible that it'd be streetable.

It's so awesome how most of the Civics that are actually fast look as close to stock as possible. ;)

With this in mind, a great idea for a sleeper would be a civic with a body kit, a massive sushi-rack wing, and 19" chromes :D
