ok, i convinced my dad to consider getting a new car. specifically, a modern day muscle car (inspired by the new mustang). name as many $-30k REAL muscle cars that will last a good amount of time, even if driven every day (doesnt have to last like 30 years of that, but it has to last like.....10 before it needs anything relatively serious) PLEASE give me alot of answers, this could very well be my car one day. and it has to be kinda retro, my dad grew up with the original muscle cars.

The only cars that come to mind are the 05 Stang and the 04 GTO leave overs. The 05 GTO's will be mid-30's. But I'd hold out for the 05; it gets better looks, dual exhaust tips and 50hp.

get a 04 Mustang SVT cobra, they're not so new now but are under $30k with couple of miles.
those are fast and easily upgradeable.

no upgrading gonna be done most likely, unless the car falls into my hands and i have alot of money free. he wants something bit more retro looking tho, but that is one of the other possibilities (main on is the new mustang)

then the 05 stang is yer best bet, but wait another year till all bugs in car are fixed since the car is 2 new.

You could look for an '04 Mach 1. They had the shaker hood scoop on there (functional, but useless as eye candy on sucha smooth engine), 305hp stock, and some minor trim variations that tried to recall the originam Mach 1's.

Sorry, but I can't endorse the new Muglystang. I just can't bring myself to do it.

wasnt it designed to loom as much like a shiny modernish version of the 67' mustang?

it doesnt look THAT bad......ok, yeah, there are better looking mustangs, but still, it doesnt look anywhere NEAR as bad as some of the other cars out there (korean crap in specific)

If you really want a really nice muscle car and you can wait, I'll wait a couple of years (about 4) to see what is on the market. The Camaro might come back, as well as the Charger, and other old "Greats" The only two at the moment ('stang and gto) will only get better.

If your dad is gonna wait till 2007, he might want to consider the up comming Camaro. It'll be based on the 67 to 69 models and it's bound to top the 300HP mark and should be in the Mustangs price range.

Ugh, another retro thing. No wonder I gave up on modern cars. Even they know the originals are better :D

Wow... that camaro looks pretty good... However... do you really think it'll sell for under $30K?

I knew Chevy was going to copy Ford and make another retro muscle car. They are like Coke and Pepsi always trying to out do eachother.
