Carrera GT crash in NY
The accident apparently took place last Saturday during a party. Both the car's owner and the driver at the time of the accident were in attendance. The owner let the other driver, a prominent businessman, take the Carrera GT out for a spin. As you might imagine, it was a spirited drive, as the Carrera GT is an obscenely powerful piece of machinery.
That kind of power commands a great deal of respect, and accidents can and do happen even with seasoned, trained drivers behind the wheel. In this case, it appears that the car proved to be more than this person bargained for, and it hit the utility pole at what appears to have been a significant rate of speed, based on how far into the bodywork it's lodged.
The driver thankfully escaped with a broken foot.
The car appears to be totaled, but here's the best part: the man who wrecked the car happened to be a very big businessman, and we now know that he's also a standup guy. He bought the car's owner another Carrera GT the next day, with lower mileage. That, my friends, is how you own up to a mistake. :D

Not much left for usable spare parts either. He messed that thing up pretty good...
-
Man I should save up for a Veyron then start hanging out with Bill Gates, only 7 more digits to knock off.........
-
is the driver going to get a ticket for parking that car in a no-standing zone (as shown in the sign)

every person who buys or drives these types of car should be put through an extensive track training before they can drive them. Its just common sense.

Because people who have driven on track never crash...

Well, I see your point, but still I agree.
It's better to have the guy crash with the company present than out somewhere else honestly.

Accidents happen, it makes the others rarer and the cars are meant to be driven. However, I do think that it makes the money worth it with some sort of driver training course.

Hmm this is sad. Good thing that the businessman who crashed it bought the owner a new one the next day. Much respect to him...that's how you apologize.
-
Glad the guy was ok. I imagine the car bouned off the wall first, probably reduced its force a lot. I say that because it's actually angled away from the wall, into the post, not towards it.

In other news, Porsche have finally finished development of their new electricity-powered Carrera GT, with fitted electricity pylon.
-
It says a lot for the safety of the GT that they were both able to go out the next day and go car shopping. That looks like it was a pretty hard hit.

standup guy? Jerry Seinfeld?

Everyone makes mistakes at least he really did a good job of repairing his mistake. As far as the CGT it seems to me this is one of the more temperamental sports cars out on the market by how many have been crashed. Do you guys think this car is just too much for the public too handle as the program for buying one is not extensive enough as it is now. I would be interested in seeing how many of these have been crashed. I personally wouldn't buy one until after I had been through extensive training seeing as how many wrecks there have been. What do you guys think?

How about people just don't drive them like asshats and it shouldn't be a problem?
