the mclarren? no ive never even seen one in the flesh their not very common by any standard.
since the 5 F1 LM's made were the 5 GTR's made road spec, i was hinting at they only made a strict amount of elise GT-1's
oh my mistake i thought you were bringine in the mclarren into this... but yeah they arnt very common but their top cars.
well we all make mistakes, either way, theyre both a rare piece of kit. surprisingly, ive seen a Jag XJ220 in person and they only made about 210 worldwide even though total production was supposed to be 350

Thats because they were overpriced pieces of shit. I liked the look of them but instead of the proposed V12 they ended up with turbo 6s if I remember correctly. Apparently you can still buy a brand new one as they couldnt sell them all.
well that was all a result of ford buying jaguar, between the prototype and production XJ220's, they ditched the 6.0L V12 for a 3.5L TT V6. i think there were a couple of other issues ford didnt want but i cant think of them right now
Well inspite of their trouble i think they were the fastest car produced (but not for very long) and apprently a guy cleaning oput a whare house he just bought found one walled up in there and he auctioned it off and nearly fell over when all he got was like 200,000 british pounds
well they hit 350km/h which in 1991 or thereabouts was faster than the F40 which could only get around 200mph but in 1995 the macca came out and blew everyone away
oh i though it held the worldas fastest titel for even shorter then that but you get that. It was also slower then they origonally thought too they were attempting to get faster with the origonal v12
well it could well have been shorter. i dunno how they were planning to go faster with the V12 though, maybe higher revs
I would of been assuming a more powerful less stressed application the twin turbo v6 would of been quite stressed small engine puching out heaps of hp= a unhappy motor that isnt going to last long. Look at the dodge viper for example not very stressed at all loves to drive around 4000 rpm and bloody pulls like a 14 year old at those revs so powerful you can pop it in 6th and take off apprently.
well 6th in a viper would be as badly geared as the 6th in a T-56 commodore, but people reckon XR8's and GT's can be left in 5th all day so maybe theres some truth to it
Well the viper can use it! and I would think that the ford 5th would be a little bit shorter then holdens .50 6th coupled with the superior torque of the ford engines maybey they will my brothers XR8 has no troubles pulling 5th and i think the fords have a taller final drive too i cant rember.
ive put it in the avalanche thread what the diff ratio, 5th and 6th is for ford and holden, at the end of it all, ford have geared 5th practically half way between holdens 5th and 6th. if the viper has a top speed of about 300km/h then of course it would use its 6th gear, it has 670nm to spare
