Gotta love how one messed up ex pop star gets a thread, there will undoubtably be days and days of media attention, but the 69 people who got blown the hell up in baghdad and the 150 others who were injured get no mention here and little on the news.
RIP to them
People backed by true value hardly get much recognition. Celebrity F ups and deaths are where the media makes all their money. That's why Britney Spears is more talked about than Gandhi or Mother Theresa put together.
Happy endings aren't very popular and don't bring in cash. Its the same reason that so called stock market "crashes" are on the front page in bold lettering and any rallies are hidden off to the side somewhere ten pages into the read. Negativity is always at the forefront sadly enough.

i don't care. Jackson was the wierdest, nose mutilation, black-white guy ever. black Jackson was certainly better. RIP Fawcett.

The world has one less child-touching creep. Good Riddance.
Some say his music was good, but he was still a weirdo. They may melt him down and make him into plastic bags, then they'd at least get something useful out of him.
Too soon? pfft I don't think it was soon enough.

Regardless of what you think of what he did, he was still a father, son, brother, uncle and nephew. Act like a human and show a fellow human and his family some respect.

I'm not condoning or dismissing anything that may have happened behind those doors. But, at the time of a person's death, when the family (including two small children and two parents who should never have had to bury a child) is mourning, is not the time to make moronic statements about anyone. It's a simple matter of respect for humanity and for life itself.

Thanks Matt. I wasn't Michael Jackson's biggest fan either but I still think we should show some compassion. It is a tragedy and he did die a pit prematurely, he has a 7-year-old son and he was only 50.
That being said, I do think it's a bit extreme that people are lining the streets of LA and crying over it. He was a celebrity but it's not like you know him personally, how can people get so attached to a celebrities life. No one's life is going to change for better or worse with the passing of Michael Jackson.

ALMOST all true. Except for the last line. As you said, 7-year-old son.

I'm pretty sure he meant people outside the Jackson family and friends.

Very sensible and while I don't want to argue with you I do want to say that I think the culture that believes his death to be of utmost importance while thousands of others are ignored is pathetic and sick. I don't agree with the people who are glad either- because of the way the media works, we have no idea what he was really like. I think it's safe to say he was strange but beyond that... neither you nor I nor anyone here knows. Which is why I think that grief on anything more than a personal level is, in some ways, self indulgence. While I can regret someone's passing, especially if they were someone I respect, the idea that I knew them closely enough to want to cry is ridiculous. We're all adults and we have to realize that everyone is going to die. So with that in mind, I think the bombing of hundreds of innocent people is far more important than one middle aged man's death. But to be honest I will grieve for neither.

What i think of someone in life, Is different to the way i react in their death. I always respect the dead.

I'm a classical musician, so he really doesn't affect me at all. But I do reckon this is very sad, as he is such an icon in the pop music industry. So RIP Michael.

RIP King of pop:( I'm not a great fan of him, anyway I think this must be seen, it's so huge: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8KjO1BsGb0"]YouTube - billie jean[/ame]
