Over here even non-OEM articles are tax deductible.
I was already considering to bring the tripod, even if I don't know how much I'd use it, mainly because of the time it takes and the fact that with more people joining the event (all of them presumingly more expert than me when it comes to handle a camera and a tripod) I feel like it would diminish the chances to get clear shots.
At the end of the day I think I'd go for a non-OEM but from a local shop.
Stuff from HK and China takes ages to arrive, like 30-45 days, and using EMS or FedEX costs too much. Buying it from an e-shop in the area still costs too close to what I'd cost from a store if not even more, depending on where it is shipped from. Also time is an issue again as I have less than two weeks, and cheap delivery isn't quick in many cases.

I wasn't on that particular one, but I've been on a fair few since and always ask permission first. The biggest problem is getting back far enough in the first place.
Lotus was particularly happy to let me on last year, essentially shot the Evora from all angles for about an hour rotating round and round and round.

I just received confirmation that they will send me the second " laissez-passer", so everything is now fine again.
Regarding the tripod, shots like this are great, but indeed the problem is having enough space and not pissing (too much) the other photographers.
I hope the various Wouter's out there will be fighting for the best shots on the first day during all the presentations, so that the second day the atmosphere can be more relaxed. I suppose the third day it would be quite overcrowded since it's also the first day opened to general public.

Yeah, I really don't like it either when people molest the cars more than look at the cars.
Glad you got it worked out.

So, my mom has been going through my dad's old unused stuff so we can trash/donate it because he (and I) tends to be a pack rat. In doing this she found some old film cameras and photography equipment. She has no interest in photography and my dad has a camera that he uses now, so he has no need for them either.
Being a pack rat like my dad and being hopelessly unable to resist the pull of old stuff, I would like to keep one or two. However, I feel I would have to justify this to my mom and I have always been interested in photography in a sort-of passive way. I thought this should be a great opportunity to get into photography. So, I would like to hear your opinions on the cameras, and where I should start one I've picked.
The Cameras:
Kodak Retina IIa
Canon AT-1
Petri FT
Canon ML
The Kodak was my grandfather's and is too cool with its popout lens to throw away. I think I should be able to get this one on the grounds of '50s novelty and it belonging to my grandfather. However, by the same token, because it is old, seemingly fragile, and has some sentimental value I am loath to use it and screw it up.
So, that leaves me with picking another camera which I could use more frequently. From a little fooling around with the other three this is whit I've gathered. The AT-1 and the Petri both don't have separate viewfinders, making them SLRs (?).
The ML is newer and smaller than the SLRs with electric winding and and automatic focusing (which makes it my least favorite). I guess I think, like with cars, cameras should be learned doing everything manually, or something like that is my subconscious logic, but I have no idea if that is correct.
The Petri has a shot timer and is the largest of the group, it is quite bulky.
My dad seems to have gathered the the most lens extenders for the AT-1, but I cannot open the back, wither due to my own stupidity or to it being stuck.
So, any suggestions about where to go from here? I plan to do some additional internet research, bit any help from you all who are old enough to remember film would be greatly appreciated. :)
