$15k for a new LS1? Surely you jest.
For genuine yes it costs that much. they are cheaper from Chevrolet catalogs (starting at almost half price) rebuilt (are half price) or slightly used (eagle import spares) start at around 5 (base tune and they also offer the cast iron 6l version used in some gmcs)
also woth noteing the gen III is so light because it doesnt have 4 camshafts swinging over head either.....detial I neglected to point out earlier :o
Yeah but with the engine far forward like in an Evo, it's gonna make a big difference having less weight hanging out front.
As i said before though, the engine should be lower and further back in 2008.

Oh no, I was referring to 20kg making a big difference in an Evo cause the weight is so far forward.
-
20kg is fairly insignificant though. Considering how much of a fuss the LSx fanboys make about how an LS1 is lighter than an MX5 1.8....
Fo real?
-
A gain (or loss in this case) is at least a step in the right direction. There is also verying grade of that engine (some are extremly light but really really expensive as opposed to reasonble)
Well ls1 uses a plastic manifold quite an ingenious motor but for a 15k (our cost retials higher) base replacement cost id shure hope it was.
I can grab a LS1 crate motor for $5500 for real;).

If it isnt in a crate when you get it i wouldent believe its new for that price (depending on who it comes from) Ive got customer who beleived they got new parts from a place that only deals in used parts:rolleyes:
If i was really intrested I could ask some supplyers (not holden) and see what i could find;) too bad im not :p
-
Also the V6 Supercharged engine as well.. They really are in crates:D.
-
I can get a gen IV for under 10k brand new which i thought wasnt too bad.
Gen IIIs are still only $300 cheaper lol they possibly might be cheaper on dealerlink as opposed to on part finder:confused: but thats in the mangers section only of the gm holden website I dont have acsess to that part:(
-
How much extra were they flogging C4B's for? Or is that a bit out of reach being an HSV motor

HSVs part finder in commine soon we only just got Ra07 rodeo last week ;)
Holdens IT depertment are slower then the cars :p
If its anything like the HSV genIIIs they can be $1000-6000 more expensive prices seemed to of had a big shake up since i last looked.
-
They'd be expensive, thats for sure. Handbuilt motors from Callaway arent found under every bonnet. The XR8 and GT motors would be a similar price i'd imagine.

You wouldnt bother with the GenIII if you could get a GenIV for a little extra:).

IT would probably be a rip off price to.

Exactly unless it was warrenty then its free :D
and yeah a stock one with mild mods will kill a 400 hp callaoway lump.
No it doesnt. Orion is continuing as essentially the same chassis as BF from the front bulkhead forward, since the only difference should be the adoption of the Territory's front suspension and a front end module more accomodating of the 5.4L V8. Everything back from that, the bits that are actually different between a Falcon, Falcon wagon, Falcon ute and Fairlane, all remain the same.
If they don't have a LWB platform wouldn't by default the wagon have to be on the short SWB platform, or is my logic flawed.

They could still use a longer wheelbase for the wagon - they just won't be developing LWB sedans.
