Here's another question. In pesticides, how come they don't allow DDT but allow it for personal use in insect repellent? It makes no sense. If it's that bad as it is it should be banned altogether.

thats Deet.. a similr but very different chemical. DDT will kill you, Deet wil just repel bugs.
My turn for a question:
If you got the exhaust to flow at super sonic velocities through a relatively straight exhaust manifold....
What would happen when the super-sonic flow enters a turbocharger?
with the constricting area of the turbine scroll the flow will slow down and gain pressure but what happens when it suddenly slows down to trans-sonic and slower?
here's some light reading about the affect of supersonic air speed with turbos, we run a couple of race cars with 36mill inlet restrictors 50mm back from the turbine wheel. We have tried various types of restrictor shapes on the engine dyno and have made some gains with the restrictor shape. Any way heres the link , most of these guys have vast real world experience with turbos, has some handy information

My bad. :o
Thanks for the explanation.
I have a question:
How do radio and TV channels measure listeners/viewers?
I have wondered about this for many years, but never really settled with my ideas.

I can't speak for other countries but I know that in the UK we have something called the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board. They take a sample of 5000 households from as broad a spread of regions, classes, ages etc as possible. Each of these households has a special device which records exactly which shows are being watched in the house. This data is then used to compile the figures. Obviously the figures aren't exactly accurate, but they give a vague idea of what percentage of the TV viewing public are watching and can highlight trends etc.
They are important to the industry as advertising and sponsorship deals are often awarded solely on the strength of these figures.
Edit: Here's info about the BARB - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BARB
Other countries appear to use a variety of different methods - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audience_measurement

Interesting. I have thought of this option but actually found it to vague
to measure the whole big mass, guess i was wrong then. Thanks for the info Jack:)
Well... in America, there's a company called Nielsen Media Research that conducts research via a box that gathers the viewing habits and sends it back to the company or through a diary kept by the viewer(s).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nielsen_ratings
in the UK it's done by selecting a "representative group" of viewers and fitting box to all the TVs and reporting viewing.

gonna need a chassis to hold everything....;)
I have a question im sure Lotus can answer. Why do they put the cross tape on the headlights. I have seen them almost always on rounded headlights. My assumption is that the headlight glass can break and cause damage, and that the tape keeps the larger pieces together. How close am I?

100 % correct...apart from the fact that the lights do not need to be rounded.....other shapes can be taped too...

some tracks ask that you use transparent tape and cover the whole headlight surface too, i think. also, some cars lke the GT3 have plastic headlight covers so do not need tape
My turn... Something I should know but I don't. What the heck is a harmonic balancer? As found on V8's...
I've heard there are at least two types, one targeting a specific rpm and another which works over a wider range?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balance_shaft :)
The phrase "harmonic" is to identify it as one specifially designed to match ( out of phase ) hte vibration in another shaft in the engine
