SLR, Carrera GT or Enzo?
Which of the cars above would you choose?
I would choose the Mercedes SLR! I think that's a fantastic car and it looks really great!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, which is set to celebrate its world premiere in autumn 2003, revives the glorious tradition of the SLR and marks the reawakening of Mercedes-Benz’ passion for super sports cars. It is a passion which can be traced way back through automotive history and which was demon-strated with particular élan in the 'Uhlenhaut Coupe'. A contemporary interpretation of stylistic elements lifted from the original SLR and design details taken from the 2003 Formula 1 Silver Arrows allow the 21st-century SLR to form a bridge between the past and the future, bringing cutting-edge motorsport technology to the road, just as the inspirational SLR Coupe did in 1955.
The new super sports car allows Mercedes-Benz and its Formula 1 partner McLaren to showcase their collective experience in the development, construction and production of high-performance sports cars. This combination of knowledge and expertise is evident not only in the host of pioneering developments, impressive performance figures and superior driving characteristics of the SLR, but also in the extremely high levels of safety and practicality which it offers. These attributes come together to form the basis for an automobile with a very special charisma – an impressive synthesis of Mercedes tradition and innovation in every respect.
One example of the transfer of expertise from Formula 1 into sports-car develop-ment is the series production of sophisticated carbon-fibre composite materials in the construction of the chassis and body. This allows the new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren to boast a level of rigidity and strength never before achieved in road-going vehicles. Equally as exemplary is the level of occupant protection: specially developed and exceptionally effective carbon crash structures help the super sports car to set new standards in its vehicle class in terms of energy absorption.
The high-performance sports car’s brakes are also made from a new and innovative composite material. Fibre-reinforced ceramics stand out with their extremely high heat resistance, outstanding structural strength and long service life. Meanwhile, under the bonnet lurks a V8 engine developed by Mercedes-AMG and featuring state-of-the-art supercharger technology, which delivers majestic torque and power development. Every SLR engine is built by hand at the custom engine manufacturing facility.

I love the Carrera GT, it looks so nice and its good to see Porsche coming away from that now highly boring design!

They're all great and fast cars...very hard choice.
But I would choose the Enzo, I love that car!

I don't know exactly why, but if I had to chose I'd pick the Porsche. Maybe I can explain: I've got this little bug inside my head, that always says to me: 'Porsche, pick the Porsche'. There's no rational reason for it, cause the three cars are just in emotional way totally different. That's what it is with supercars: your head doesn't choose which you like the most, it's your heart...
Maybe it doesn't belong here in this topic, but I think there's another Porsche that even is better than these three cars... It really must be the 935, the Moby Dick version. (Yeah, I'm a huge fan of NFS: Porsche 2000...Really, of any NFS is that one the very best!) That one really makes my petrol-drained heart beat a couple times faster than normal...
(whiping a few tears away...)

Ehm, hard choice between the Enzo and Carrera GT.
But I'd choose the Carrera GT because it looks better and is cheaper>better value for money. Color: black
-
Carrera GT :D The Enzo is nice but not that nice, the Merc is just... ugh, but the Carrera GT is choooooooice  Its almost as beautiful without a bodyshell on... this is Engineering
-
Slr,and i dont care about people votes, they just post their opinions, whatever, this time slr gets only 2 votes....
-
i like them all, but i lean more towards the Enzo and SLR...i love the sound of that porsche v10 though.
-
My vote goes to the Carrera GT.
I'm not a huge fan of the SLR, too much luxury GT cruiser than hardcore super sportscar. I mean honestly, 5 speed auto 'box and a trunk big enough for 2 golf bags? It seems to me to be far too oriented towards the the ultra-rich business man or celebrity, who'll only buy it for the prestige and pose value, not for any serious driving.
The Enzo is undoubtably a stunning achievment, and it's a car that only Ferrari would have the balls and the considerable techno knowhow to produce. My problem with it is this: whenever a car company attempts to unashamedly show-off their technical prowess, and lavish as much technology as possible all over the car, they run the risk of it dating seriously quickly. It's the "Aston Martin Lagonda Effect". Back in 1976 AM created a car that seemed radical and futuristic in every sense, wild looks inside and out, massive onboard computer and a high performance V8. However, all too quickly it started to look a bit silly as car design moved on through the eighties. Nowadays it looks like a prop from a low budget seventies sci-fi TV show! (see www.astonmartinlagonda.net for the proof!) I worry that in trying to be too outrageous and conspicuous with their use of technology (the ultra aggressive styling, flashing lights and fancy buttons all over the dash etc), in 15-20 years time people will think the Enzo looks like something from a low budget 00s sci-fi show.
The Carrera GT on the other hand seems to stay a step back from the cutting edge in terms of its styling. Obviously it is just as technologically advanced as the SLR and Enzo under the skin, but it doesn't make a song and dance about it. The lines are pure, simple and elegant, with obvious references to sportscar racers but nothing over the top. The interior too is good looking, totally efficient and ergonomic, and sticks to the classic understatement that we expect from modern Porsches. It is a beautifully styled car, but not in the overt and pornographic manner of the Enzo and SLR. I think that in twenty years time it'll be the Carrera GT that people will still look at with the respect and admiration it so rightly recieves these days.
5 speed auto 'box
it has a manual-auto transmission
-
I am between Enzo and Carrera GT.
My choice is.....Carrera GT, i think that it's more friendly-supercar than Enzo
-
1. Carrera GT
2. Mercedes-Benz SLR
3. Ferrari Enzo
-
it has a manual-auto transmission
Having an automatic gearbox where you press buttons to actuate the gear changes does not make it a manual in anything like the true sense. There is no clutch, the engine is linked to the 'box by a torque converter. The 'manual' bit just means that by pushing the buttons you are sending orders to some computer gadget type thing which then swaps the ratios around in the box. It's more a gimmick than a performance tool. At least the Enzo is (I think, correct me if I'm wrong!) a true semi-auto in that the paddles link to an electro-hydraulic clutch and then the gears are changed robotically. But you just can't beat a proper manual where you feel totally in contact with the machinery, and you get all the challenges of clutch control and heel-and-toe etc.

slr about 350,000,00 euro
cgt more than 400,000,00 euro
enzo, hmmm god knows!!!!(i dont know, maybe 650,000,00 dollar or even more expensive)
carrera is the worse
The Enzo is best supercar-wise, but the SLR looks much more like a more ideal everyday car. The Porsche is a nice and all, but it reminds me of a redesigned Toyota MR2. :o

more of SLR, the ultimate GT
-
*bump* (sorry!)
Man...toughy....The Merc, with its awesome 612 ponies comes 3rd in my books. It just doesn't live up to the other two cars in my opinion.
Next for me is the Carrera. The design isnt as impressive as earlier designs have been, and this car just doesn't catch me as much as past Porsches. I love the fact that the Navigation system is a free option though.... :D
Well, just ahead of the Carrera comes "teh" Enzo. I just love teh design, though it is debatable whether it is practical or not. ;)
-
Enzo without a doubt.
From what I have read in the magazines the SLR is not as good as it could have been.
And I love the carrera GT as well. But if I had to pick just one it would be the enzo.
And it this company who cares if its practical?
more of SLR, the ultimate GT
Could you tell me where these pix where taken ?

an auto show =P, i dont know where

i like the carrera gt for the sound and the handling (i have heard it is good)....
i like the enzo for the performance and the prouncing pony...
but my favorite is the Mercedes. i love the design. the performance is at the same level as the carrera gt and its far its more comfortable than the other cars.... they only downside of the SLR is the Carbon-fibre brakes who makes to much noice.....
-
my choice is carrera gt becaus it is more bueutiful than enzo and SLR!!

Thanks for digging up a thread over a year old. Phhh, newbies

Well I detail high end cars around my town (great part time job for a first year college student) I have been lucky enough to clean some awesome cars and meet some really great people. So far I have ridden in the CGT and was astounded by the performance...the style is drop dead gorgeous...the engine is insane (so free to rev and the sound is right out of F1) the acceleration was plain nuts!...The driver really put it through the paces and got me lightheaded :D I also have a customer with a red `03 Enzo which he rarely drives (600mi. on it so far) but I'm looking forward to a ride in it within the next 4 weeks...then i will have a better answer but I prefer the Porsche interior, engine and lower price....the ferrari's styling is eye catching for sure, cleaning that body takes a long time because of the crazy lines and angles. The SLR McLaren I find downright ugly and it's automatic...granted I have yet to been inside one or ride in it. If you guys want to see some pictures of the Enzo or CGT here is the alblum on my picture site: http://community.webshots.com/album/190280725dVSJFI

enzo all the way, i love it's formula one style lines they make it look so aggressive. It is a such an amazing car. by the way didn't they do this comparison in a Road and Track magazine?

I'd go for the Carrera GT out of the 3 because its better than the SLR (IMO) and its way cheaper than the Enzo.
-
Wow this thread is old...
SLR as a GT.
Enzo as a supercar.
-
lol, yea it is kinda old. id say carrera gt........but if i could afford it enzo. the enzo just..... puts itself on the road and seems to proclaim itself king over all it can see :p and it has good performance.
-
I´ll take the Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren !!!!
