Beck Engineering LM800
Designed for Performance
The Beck LM 800 is based on the philosophy that exceptional performance can only be achieved thanks to the lightest possible vehicle weight. It is also important to keep the drag coefficient (cw value) low and and the cross-sectional area small. It has been possible to achieve these outstanding values in combination with a specially produced and exceptionally high-performance MTM V8 engine. Borrowing from nature and the use of solutions from Formula 1 have resulted in a headstrong design orientated exclusively towards performance and optimal driving characteristics.
Technology
The bodyshell and central monocoque are made of the latest composite materials, such as Kevlar which ensures the necessary stability and optimal protection. Parts that come under extreme stress are manufactured of high-strength aluminium alloys, with as few weld seams as possible. Virtually all the suspension parts are milled out of solid pieces and screwed together. The electronically controlled active chassis is responsible for optimal road-holding and the built-in pneumatic lift system makes tyre changing child’s play.
Drive system
The engine is a V8 model especially produced for the Beck LM 800 with a displacement of 4.2 litres which, thanks to two turbo-chargers, delivers a performance of around 650 HP to the drive shaft. The drive unit is designed in such a way that even acceleration is achieved across the entire range up to a top speed of over 350 kph. The semi-sequential 7-speed gearbox is perfectly co-ordinated with the Beck LM 800 and reacts without any delay.
Equipment
The basic version of the Beck LM 800 deliberately dispenses with any special conveniences in order to give the feeling of a pure sports car.
Standard features include tinted windows, opening side windows, a high-quality belt system, individually adjustable seats, the latest instrumentation, driver’s airbag and the option of a floor-mounted gear change or rocker switch changes on the steering wheel. On request, individual components from the luxury version (LM 820) can be incorporated into the basic version at extra cost.
In the case of the luxury version, the following equipment is included in the purchase price. A precise price will be quoted once we are aware of individual customer requirements.
* Air-conditioning system • Hi-fi audio system
* Satellite navigation system
* Anti-theft system
* Keyless badge
* Free choice of colour and material for seat covers
* Engine preheater
* Auxiliary heating
Optional at extra cost
* Electric side windows
* LCD monitor (can be used as TV)
* Additional airbags (passenger, side)
drag coefficient (cw value)
was about to question this when wiki came to the rescue :)
The drag coefficient (Cd, Cx or Cw, depending on the country)
it looks like a cross between a zonda, a koenigsegg and that mercedes fish-car.
i'll have that silver car on the left in the last picture :D

Interesting weight and size figures. Such a shame that it is ugly and doesn't have a proper manual.

Since when do cars today ever have proper manuals? :D

I mean the ones with a lever, not the ones made out of cellulose. Smart ass. :p
What's a PZ by the way?

Its, um interesting but I wouldn't say its ugly, I like the back of it but I am not sure about the front. Crazy figures though.

Yes... what's a clutch pedal...? ;)
-
The car looks horrible on the concept sketches. It looks kinda strange in reality. Oh well, I don't mind, it's a performance monster.

Yeah sorry :) coudlnt' resist :D

As in my current avatar.
Maxda RX-8 PZ by ProDrive - latest addition.
WIll be doing a detailed post on it as soon as we get decent weather here for some pics !!!

My dad had an RX-3. He revved the shit out of it. ;)
I'll be looking forward to the pics of the PZ.

Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Pagani, Koenigsegg, TVR, Lotus, Corvette…
The more I see of this car, the more convinced I am that I was right the first time I saw it and that I didn’t like it very much. Honestly, with all the Hypercars out there on the market it’s going to have to look better than this!

I don't know why these companies with sequential gearboxes in their cars can't offer them without the computer controlled hydraulic stuff, just with a clutch pedal and shifter. It can't be that hard to drive a Manual sequential box around can it?

True sequential gearboxes are pretty raw. Koenigsegg abandoned theirs because they couldn't make it streetable. The kicker is that many of these so-called sequentail systems are nothing more than computerised 3 shaft manuals. Ferrari is a good example; the only difference between their manual and sequentail gearboxes is who has control, you or the car. It's just a fad; a marketing ploy designed to lure those who want the cache of driving something fast, but are too lazy, or can't be bothered to actually drive!

This lines of this car looks very similar to the Orca SC7. It looks like it's just re-marketed.
http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame.php?file=car.php&carnum=2336
Anyway, it looks really raw and un-refined, which is good for some people.
EDIT: It IS the same car, as the Orca was launched by Rene Beck (sounds familiar?), according to Wooter's comments on the UCP page of the Orca. If he spent some more money to make the car look like a decent super-car, he might have some chance against the other supercars (Pagani, Koenigsegg, Enzo etc). But now, he just targets a really small market: The supercar enthusiasts that only care about the driving experience and not the looks.

If you mean that the rear looks like the front of a poorly made origami Bimmer, then yes.
-
thats exactly what i meant
-
What an ugly looking thing: design looks like a Lemans car from the nineties (porsche 962 and the likes)... Since looks counts very much in the sales or not of such a car, I believe this is another deadborn project...
-
Just for clarity, when a car weight is usually stated in magazines and webpages, isn't that normally with only the bare minimum liquids and no driver?
Cos bearing in mind this thing has a 120 litre fuel tank, that's around 120kg + the 80kg for the driver, deduct that from the 900kg stated and we're near 700kg. That strikes me as very light for a car with 650 ponies to toy with. 900nm is about 660ft lb, which sounds like a lot, too. Anybody know the origin of the engine?
-
Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Pagani, Koenigsegg, TVR, Lotus, Corvette…
You'd struggle to fine a modern Ferrari with a gear stick, Lamborghini is incresingly going flappy paddle too and Porsche is probably going to introduce PDK for the next generation of sportscars... In my opinion the manual is more or less dead when it comes to sportscars, it might last a little longer, but unfortunately the future are clutchless transmissions.

Twin Turbo Audi V8.

I'd love to have an FXX or even an Enzo with a manual...
Yes, the others offer manuals, but they've been slanting towards SMG's lately.

that would destroy it same as it would destroy a muscle car to put the f1 paddles innit
it'd be like putting a manual gearbox to the f1 car :eek: imagine driving that... no sense at all

Why not? If you want to drive, why limit yourself to a flappy paddle gearbox?
Newer isn't always better.

Transmissions can be built to withstand that torque or power. Trucks have way more torque than an exotic like that and still manuals exist. They're just too lazy to develop one. How hard could it be? :D
The Pagani Zonda has a manual and that has loads of power and torque.

Getting it to fit is a problem .....

Sure, that's the fun of it all. :D
But yeah, it certainly possible. Whether you want to spend the money and time to research and develop it is another thing. Ferrari spent a lot of money on SMG technology also.

Is this company still active? So long period of silence. Has anyone heard of them?
