#1 New Mazda 2 is swimming against the mainstream.
#2 No downsized turbocharged petrol engines here - naturally aspirated 1,5 litre Skyactiv is different from industry norm.
#3 Slightly odd proportions for a supermini: unusually long hood is needed to make room for a complicated exhaust manifold. Rear passenger space suffers because of that.
#4 Nevertheless, inefficient packaging didn't stop it winning the 2014 Japanese Car of the Year title.
I'm obliged to fly the Mazda fanboy flag now.
Truthfulyl, our 2014 3 is alright, but I've not driven the competition so I have a bad compass with with to draw a bearing on its rivals. This is a much prettied up new 2.
Clever, cute car.

The new 3 is at the top of class when it comes to the handling/ride balance.
I rather like this a lot, and I wouldn't mind at all driving one.
I have to say, Mazda is on a roll lately, and all those who consider car enthusiasts should buy one immediately.
