Two great competition Alfa Romeos to round up this week ...

These are strange times and instead of travelling to events, we are now stuck in the office. That does mean we have the opportunity to take a look in our archive. Today we have found a pair of great Alfa Romeo competition cars for you to enjoy.
First up is this Giulia TZ, which is one of just three fitted with a fibreglass body. Its chassis was similar to that of the subsequent TZ2 but by using the earlier body design, it could be fielded in the GTS class for fully homologated GT racers. It was successfully raced in period by the Autodelta works team. Chassis 750107 has also had a successful historic racing career in the hands of Angelo Chiapparini. It is now back in Italian ownership and returned to the track in recent years.
The 8C 2300 ranks as one of the all-time great Alfa Romeos and this lovely Monza perfectly illustrates why. It was raced in period by Jean-Pierre Wimille and Raymond Sommer. In 1935, it was also used for successful average speed record runs on the Montlhery circuit near Paris. The car then spent a huge portion of its life in Brazil, until it was found and recovered by the great car archeologist Colin Crabbe. For some time now, chassis 2211138 has joined a formidable collection of competition cars in Germany.
