Having driven with many other guys at the helm, I am amazed men are F1 drivers....
True...I live on a block largely populated by college kids, and the driving I see, both male and female, is amazingly bad.
I see your point. But it still doesn't make it okay to say. It's degrading as hell...
Note I didn't say it was okay. :). It's just that people of different ages have a different view on things, especially when you have a generation gap.
Regardless of what some people might be saying, men will always be men and women will always be women and they will never be equal in terms of many different things. At least I hope they will not be.
I honestly don't care if more women are in racing. If they're a good driver, gender should not make a difference.
If it makes racing all the more exciting, I'm all for it.

And to those people with archaic ideologies from their generation... I say, "Your old ways will die with you."

My wife is actually the more old-fashioned in terms of gender roles than I am...

She would PREFER to stay home to cook and clean, raise the kids, etc. if my lazy ass made the money to do so. Which I almost but not quite do. She comes from a more traditional culture than I do. And I know she does a d@mn good job of all the housework...

In F1 terms, there's never been a woman driver that's truly been good enough. Some have been close, but never more than tail-enders. However, Michele Mouton nearly won the WRC in 1982, and probably would've done, if not for bad luck, and the fact that she didn't compete in the Safari Rally and Rohrl did. Zoe Wenham is a racing driver that I know personally, and she's definitely got a lot of potential.

What was the potential of Maria de Villota, i understand she was a tester but did she do any F3 or F2?

Its for Marussia/Virgin, in that case I'd say its more for publicity than anything(heck, their regular drivers are too, except now Jules Bianchi came with Ferrari money as in for all intents and purpose, a jr. Ferrari backup). She is also too old. Same unfortunately is Susie Wolff.
