Your pic is the first concept model
(2001)
your right but when i first started this thread i couldnt find a good enough picture of the production mode:rolleyes:
What will become of all this retro shit in 5 years or so. Resale value 0.
Someone on some site said this will sell like the PT Cruiser, an instant hit.
My Response: Yeah, It'll sell for about a month and everyone who bought it would realise their midlife crisis is over
its so ugly, heavy, and oh so slow, sorry chevy, you lose.
i laugh in its face
the only idea worse than Chevy thinking these will be a hit is the idea of someone using it as an actual workhorse
A friend is a dealer and he had one availible for two weeks. He loved it, while I hated it.
SSR is a pile of poopy and is pointless at the same time. the PT cruiser at least had versatility and probably has a better 0-60 time...
I personally hate all these "retro look" cars; the PT Cruiser, SSR, T-bird etc.
i think the whole retro design needs to grow on people, i eprsonally didnt think much of the cobra concept when i first saw it, it hough the headlights heeded to sit more vertically and stick out forward a bit more, but the more different angled shot i see of it, the more its growing on me
i dont care for this truck. i wouldnt have a use for this, i think a truck should be a truck not some ooo look at me i got a convetible hard top with a retro style. besides all that, its way to heavy for its size (guess thats due to a all steel body) only thing i like is that they gave it a v8. i still think the s10 is better an dont know why they discarded it for this tom foolery of a truck.

The S-10 isn't in this truck's league, and it is replaced by the Colorado/Canyon trucks. I think the SSR is something fresh, although the retro styling is not. I am disappointed that the 5.3 engine is in this truck while the 5.7 LS1(320/350hp), 6.0 (345hp), and LS6(400hp). The engine is the same engine that powers the extended cab Silverado. My father's truck: 2002 Ext Cab Silverado 5.3 cost about 28K. The SSR costs 40K, has the same engine, and 2 seats. I know there is some overhead for it being a luxury convertible, but, it is really underpowered for the cost. A Camaro SS can be obtained for less or a Corvette Coupe for nearly the same price.
i've seen the ssr in person and in photos and i think it is the ugliest truck chevy has made in a long time
it looks like those electric karts that came out a few years ago
motor trend did another truck test recently and the quad cab nissan titan has a faster 0-60 and quarter mile than the ssr
that just shows what a peice the ssr really is :p
i hope it goes the way of the plymouth prowler.
