Is there really a need for a GT3 class?
Well it is the class used for the British, German and Belgian GT championship. In addition there is of course the FIA GT3 championship. Most of these races have over 30 very different sports cars and supercars on the grid. A redundant class indeed ...

Looks like Audi will be a nice addition to the FIA grid.
Too bad we don't get the GT3 series in the States....would be a better support race for ALMS rather than Star Mazda etc.

corrected version;):
"...would be a better support race for ALMS rather than F1 etc"
not that F1 is a support race to ALMS, but it's rather annoying after the first 10/15 laps, and this is a proof there is something better to watch at and to promote. can we invite Bernie to this forum please?

And some of the cars can be (and have been) enteres in some national rally championships. That gives them a lot of variety between competing cars.
