I realise this and it's been debated before, but if cars can be made that don't look FUGLY (and they can) and still comply with the regs, what's Peugeot's excuse?
they like sharks, maybe, and considering how close the Brazilian 207 (or European 206+) is to the actual 207, they also run out of ideas.
Somebody at the stand told about the marketing concept behind it. The car is aiming at "famous people" where every paparazzi is awaiting their arrival (for instance at the Oscar Award Ceremony. In order to get out of the car decently, it needs to be high on its wheels. So what this means is that we may never get to see Britney Spears again coming out of a low limo and showing ererything.
So that's the Lagonda Britney Spears. Well done.

Peugeot has ruined the only car that was worth buying from them.

Okay, first of all most of these chicks are flashing their kittys for some additional press coverage. Second being able to get out of a car without showing the goods is about poise and grace; things most stars today are severely lacking. Third, any car designer or exec that actually spent time developing that should be shot.
I can honestly say that I've never seen more of a consensus that a car is awful than this so called Lagonda.
-
Is this worse than the Cayenne you think Nic?
I thought it was super ugly, but the front is sorta redeemable. The rest is abhorrent, and the fact that this is called a Lagonda is horrific.
-
God this thing looks like it's trying to be a 4wd, With hidden personalty of a car. But likes to sing rap music i like big buts, And watches jaws and the elephant man 6 days a week.
-
it does fit my idea of a long trip across cold Siberia though.
it's, very slowly, growing on me.
I don't know if Lagonda is actually a brand with a specific image. I mean, large comfortable and fast sedans could even have been its main product, but there weren't much more kind of cars for fast and expensive commuting apart from some still relatively comfortable sort of grand touring coupes.
I would really require a first person contact with this car, it seems a lot of journalists changed their minds about it after seeing in the flesh, and I'm even pretty curious about it.
its huge and plain body it's the first thing you notice, and it's ugly probably. it's pretty hard to keep looking long enough to see something interesting.
-
Looking at the first picture with the man a few feet back, the Lagonda isn't as big as I originally thought. I'd have to see it in person.

I know I'm not Nic, but I'd like to respond anyway. :D
I think it's way worse than the Cayenne. At least the Cayenne looks way better than this.

I disagree, this could be ugly, but t least it looks expensive too.
the Cayenne has a look of a Chinese rip off of a 911 on the wrong platform, especially the restyled one.
-
I get what you say about the design growing on you - it's well detailed.
It's just the proportions, overall styling, even the very concept of it is truly offensive to nearly all my senses.
I doubt I'll lick it, so 4/5 is not good.

At least it you may argue it has a purpose.
This has no purpose whatsoever, and I can't understand how it could grow on anyone.

Just remember that Fungus grows on people too.

Cayenne's purpose: 250.000 units sold * 70.000 € (average guestimated price) = 17,5 Billions € for Porsche.

Yes well that aside... :)
I mean the Cayenne is a good off raoder (at least as premium SUVs go these days). But this is neither a car nor an off roader. So it's nothing...

it's a taller Phantom. it may be bad looking, but it has a perhaps debatable purpose. I guess it could be even more comfortable than the Rolls due to the height. and you know it can perform well thanks to the V12.
I don't see it as an SUV, just as a huge car.
Even the Phantom is huge, but it has more familiar proportions which indeed helps to make it looks smaller than what it actually is.
I don't think I would buy this as it is now, but it makes sense to me.
much more than a stripped Continental, for example, or of a Cayenne diesel instead of a Touareg diesel.
