Ford vs. Ferrari, now in movie form.
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdSN7__uzyM"]FORD v FERRARI Trailer (2019) - YouTube[/ame]
If anyone of you know anything about Matt Damon, he's as New England as it gets. They have a weird manner of speech and to pull off a Texan accent for Caroll Shelby is going to be interesting.
Still, I'm all for a good car movie, plus they have huge co-stars.

I'll probably watch it when it gets released.
-
I thought this was interesting (unfortunately it will only be on for three more days... :( )

I remember reading about it, but I had forgotten about the 1955 race until I saw this film. Thanks for the share.

Pretty amazed that the S600 sounds so great.

Well... it has the same engine as this:

So it is not that surprising...
-
Funny enough, if that's the 7.2L Mercedes engine, then it's exactly 12 times larger than the S600's engine.
-
I think you mean 1.2 times larger... :p
In any case, early Zondas had 6 litre engines.
-
It's kind of pathetic that Honda's four cylinder looks so much better than Merc's twelve. Even in the Zonda, and especially in the S, it is the one of the most formless and flaccid presentations that I can think of.

Savage terminology laid down here. Are you referring just to the look of the motor in the engine bay?
I think the Zonda's one kinda fits the type for a supercar. Whether that is good or not, yeah.
The modern cars often ain't putting an emphasis on looking at the block, are they?!

I think the things around it (struts, springs, suspension arms) look very nice, but the engine itself is not great. It seems eventually Horacio realized that Merc wasn't going to do anything in this department and took matters into his own hands.
Mercedes, on the other hand, has kept things consistently shitty; missing(W, you have the compression ratio listed as 15.5:1 for this one. I'm fairly sure that's incorrect) many opportunities to improve.

It must be a German thing, M Powered BMWs look just as bad under the bonnet.
Or they just pull a 911, where the engine can't be seen at all.
-
It definitely speaks to their mentality. What was that quote from Porsche? "A car doesn't need to make noise as long as it's fast"?

This deep dive and interview with Gordon Murray was really interesting. He talks a lot about the design choices and limitations of the F1 too. He also talks about the things he wanted to correct in building the T.50.
