for that money, all you can get is a Kia Rio, Toyota Echo or a Chevy Aveo.
but for used, I suggest a secondhand Taurus or Sonata.
With the GM 'Customer Discount/Desperate Attempt to Get Sales Event' Cobalts run around 11,000 Notice also that he mentioned the others as used cars.......
Out of those chioces, go Cobalt, simply because it's new.
The newer model Hyundai's offer the best bang-for-the buck, with a car like the Sonata. The Elantra/Accent are shit though. If you pick up a one to two year old Sonata, you'd be doing yourself a favor, and the warrantee is second-to-none.
you forgot to mention that the Sonata is on top of CR's most reliable list.

True, I can care less about Consumer Reports though, although their ratings are unbiased and directed well towards the average car buyer.
Most people that put down Hyundai's are blinded by propoganda, unless they've driven an Accent/Elantra, which can be a bit shitty. (Thinking along the lines of a car like the Kia Rio.)

yes, cars like the Accent are POS and they do not reflect the Sonatas solid feel.
