I think sales of the luxury European cars means its entirely feasible idea. For a basic need car yes, different part of the world has different driving pattern, and it'll be damn hard making one size fits all. But historically speaking that seems more or less not applicable to Luxury cars. 3, 5 or 7 sold well wherever they are...generates the same desire for the well to do to own them regardless if they are really suited to their market segment....
The sales volume of Lexus ES and RX models in the US suggests the Europeans are leaving a number of sales on the table in the US.

But this does not replicate outside German manufacturers (and Volvo, perhaps?) and exotic brands. And I think that those cases are more related to strong brand images and reputation rather than the product itself.

Its more in terms of one product fits multiple market. Which Germans are doing quite successfully. Yes ES is more of a North American car, much like Camry and Accord is. ES also undercuts the price/trim level to the Germans by a good deal.
I am also saying that as far as where Cadillac wants to compete in, the same global car stigma should not really apply to them.

Can't wait till people start putting 22 inch rims on this car.
