Rum is made from sugarcane, so anywhere that produces that can make rum if they wish. There's even rum made in Bulgaria according to this list!
List of rum producers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Theres one made in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia. Its Bundaberg Rum, Advertised with a big white polar bear.. It's on the list.
The sugarcane is turned into molasses and preserved with something or rather.

absent (understandably) from the poll are Dutch Genever (in "old" and "young" shape), both of which I regularly consume.
It also good to see that the popular "rose" wine is not included in the poll, as are Sherry and Vermouth....

yeah so i checked and 6 outta the top 8 exporters of rum are carribean nations, but this stat doesnt take into account the amount of locally produced rum that IS DRUNK LOCALLY AND NOT EXPORTED. tequila im sure is mexican only. but yeah, my bad on the misinformation
this poll still shows you guys are weird though, err i mean does not conform to statistics :)

exactly, local bottleshop; majority of rum is domestic, cheapest beer is domestic. rum is too simple to make to depend on imports
