Wait, then why is there 'Daimler-Chrysler' and why do I have a Daimler Benz Sonder Kabriolet 1:12 model unfinished in my room?

Because Daimler himself set up a company and these marques are the continuation of that lineage. Completely seperate from Daimler UK since 1893 :)
but why use a jag xj8?
but why use a jag xj8?
Because Daimler is owned by Jaguar.
k that explains it, thanks.

My post was the third post in this thread explaining that...
Daimler takes an XJ8 and makes it a bit more special :) If anyone sees something wrong with that do tell me..
So basically, the Diamler I thought this was, it isn't. Its a company thats now owned by a competitor of the Diamler I thought of. And this unfamiliar to me Diamler company is just releasing an overpriced limited edition Jag XJ8?
If so, I think I understand, and its quite lame.

hmm, missing out on the experience and the history......
Daimler's were often the preferred "Jaguar" for those wanting a more up-market driving experience without going to Bentley/Rolls prices :)
A 70s model had to have a special ignition cut-out to prevent the driver trying to start the engine whilst it was running. It WAS that quiet :D
Not seen the latest, but if they are continuing their heritage then you get a better interior and trimmed car with all the same perfromance.
Ohh, a new Daimler... I didn't expect the new XJ to copme in a Daimler version, but obviously it did. :)

The German Daimler I think you are talking about has not made a car for a century, whereas the British Daimler has done so for well over a century. Since 1960 they have been responsible for the very luxurious Jaguars. So it's probably your knowledge that's lame rather than this latest Daimler.
so this "Daimler" is just an upscale version of the XJ8?
like 1.7EL is an upscale of Civic?? or 9-2x is upscale of Impreza?
that's just sad.... Honda and GM did a better job than Ford..

For all you kids out there, the automotive industry did not start in the year 2000. Daimler and Jaguar have had this setup long before Honda and Subaru were even building cars.

and it's best NOT to say anything about something you've never even seen or sat in or experienced before dropping into 'chav-style' :)
Don't you just love badge engineering???
