I would say it's annealing. The tips are rotated around a torch that brings the color out like that. The exhaust at the muffler shouldn't be hot enough to change the color of the titanium.

Thanks. I thought it was strange that the exhaust would be hotter, making the pipes bluer, at the very end. In the Eagle, IIRC, the pipes are blue much closer to the engine.
It actually is a styling effect. When Ti is welded, the heat creates a patina so its a way of demonstrating you've folked out for a Ti exhaust as opposed to stainless steel! The exhaust temperatures would never reach to 700 odd degrees needed for that heat staining on a roadcar.

The edges of the tips aren't welded though. See my post above...
wow that looks amazing!

What i mean is that the patina is almost a badge of honor showing that your exhaust is genuine Ti
Your point being?

That first pic just reminds me of Mitsi FTO for some reason...
Love the blue tip exhausts they look like the GTC Titan aftermarket jobbies, really fantastic exhaust made from space-craft grade Titanium, absolutely incredible bit of kit but pricey :)
You have to work very hard to ruin the looks of a GT-R..nobody has managed to do it yet
QN
I disagree, A fair few people have done a good job ruining it.
including nissan :p no but really, the wheels on the v-spec are terrible.
