Fairly standard race for Catalunya; it was maybe a bit more interesting than usual with some early round-the-outside passes. The 3 stopper probably cost Ferrari.

If Hamilton hadn't made such a mess of the start Ferrari wouldn't have had a chance.
Also, could it be that the McLaren is worse than what the Honda engine shows?
McLaren has been in the wilderness for a bit; this isn't all on Honda.
I'm thinking it was Nico's day yesterday, and even if Lewis hadn't flubbed the start he still would have been runner-up at best.
The question is, how do you get wheelspin if the Honda engine doesn't have any power at all?
That's THE problem.
This entire season will be a developmental one for them, which is a shame. I wonder now that Ron has been back in charge for a little bit if they can get back to form. Probably not next year, but maybe the year after? Boy.
Given that their previous chassis was a bit of a dog even with Merc power, I'm not surprised to see them nowhere this year. They need some Newey masterclasses or something.
On the eve of the Monaco Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has inked a new deal with Mercedes for the next three seasons. I wonder how many races and championships he is going to win in this period.
Amazing.
Maldonado has finished a race without crashing.
I don't follow F1 and I know this dude.

That was actually brilliant.

Wait, what? He finished a race this season? Huzzah!
Continuing on the above post, Maldonado finishes the last race by crashing out in the first corner. Not his fault (though I maintain he intentionally put himself in the path of the out of control Alonso) but still somehow fitting.
Nothing else of note happed in the race, besides Kimi finally finishing on the podium again.
