Unique Ferrari Uovo, John Horsman remembered and subscription prices lowered ...

In our hunt for Easter eggs this weekend, we came a cross a particularly unusual egg in the form of the unique Ferrari 166 MM Fontana Uovo Coupe. The car was the brainchild of the Marzotto brothers, who were among Ferrari's most important customers during the late 1940s and early 1950s. One of the most remarkable Ferraris of the era, it features a unique body crafted from an exotic alloy by Fontana following the design of the soon be famous sculptor and aeronautical engineer Franco Reggiani. Light and very slippery, the Uovo was actual faster than all the factory Ferraris in the 1951 Mille Miglia. As a special Easter treat, we have taken a detailed look at the history of this fabulous machine.
With John Horsman, another legend of British motorsport passed away this week. Certainly not as well known as Stirling Moss, he was one of the men behind the success of the Gulf liveried Fords, Porsches and Mirages during the 1960s and 1970s. A stickler for detail, he was a keen observer and wrote everything down, with the fantastic 'Racing in the rain' book as the result. He was proud of the history of his cars and team, and would regularly mail us remarks or corrections if we have gotten something wrong. In his honour, we have today highlighted the 1971 Spa 1000 km winning Porsche 917 K. A most fitting tribute as it was Horsman's modifications that ultimately turned the 917 into an all conquering machine.
