Well after running the new rubber in.. The car has completely transformed.
Its fantastically pointed through the corners, not a hint of under steer around a sweeping bend coming onto boost in third.
In a straight line it still chirps the rears, but no longer all four. (Variable torque split diff ftw)
Sounds fantastic!

Just saw this and the link from Kidty, laughed my ass off.
Since the last post I've bought a manual torque splitter, so I can dial in the front / rear drive power ratio.. It also has a 2wd switch so that I don't have to pull the fuse if I want some hardcore RWD shenanigans.

Quick Update - (Cant upload the pics at work to UCP, can use links to personal site if you want, I'll upload to UCP tonight.)
I found time to install the new LEDS, and the Torque Splitter.

Trying to get to these gauges was a bitch, I still couldn't remove them, I think the previous owner or otherwise has broken a tab and done something funny to keep it in there. Which is a pity, but not all that surprising seeing as the plastic is 21 years old and gone brittle.
http://streetfans.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/dsc_6371.jpg
One last shot of how dim the old setup was.
http://streetfans.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/dsc_6384.jpg
Still trying to get these ****ing gauges out.. I ended up swapping the bulbs like this.
http://streetfans.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/dsc_6391.jpg
Behind the handbrake, and below the centre armrest lies the G sensor. Here we are sussing out which ones need to be cut and which need to be tapped.
http://streetfans.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/dsc_6396.jpg
Soldered, the one that was cut was wrapped in heat wrap. These tapped ones we wrapped up neatly with electrical tape and tucked them in firmly.
http://streetfans.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/dsc_6404.jpg
Centre console gauges with the new LEDS and back in place.
http://streetfans.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/dsc_6405.jpg
Dash. Looks much clearer and neater. Its a classy colour too.
http://streetfans.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/dsc_6409.jpg
And here is where the new Torque Split Controller wound up. The Cigarette bin in the centre arm rest.
With the Torque Splitter I can split the drive into RWD or AWD. In AWD I can specify via the dial a set level of drive, from Standard behaviour (It Will send up to maximum drive forward depending on conditions) or I can dial in a percentage split set constantly.
Testing this out tonight quickly on wet roads really stood out, on constant full split the car just pulls out of corners with no hint of wheel spin or unsettledness at all. There is Mid corner under steer if I mash the throttle without upsetting the weight first.
The standard mode can feel unsettled as torque gets sent front and back depending on wheel slip, yaw etc, with the dial set how I like there is no computing involved, its a fixed level of drive, which gets rid of that unsettled feeling.

Wow, looks awesome!
For a second before the photos I thought you were adding LEDs to the headlights, not the instrument clusters.
Looks really nicely done.

Gather round kiddies, time for an update!
While Clutch-Monkey was down for a week we got the mid-pipe cut out of the GTR and replaced with a straight section. The car is no louder but sounds absolutely insane and beastly. Basically with the coils installed my exhaust was scraping on everything.

Spot the Oil filter.

Clutch-Monkey is small, but in the GTR engine bay looks positively tiny.

IB4R was nice enough to go out and pick up my new wheel/tyre combo from Canberra on his way up for the World Time Attack Challenge.

The wheels are Panasport G7's. A period correct 3 piece racing wheel that echo the standard wheels design.

The Wheels are 17x9.5 +15 front, 17x10 +20 rear.
Big image HEREthat is too big to inline.
Car is going awesome. I also removed the boost restrictor and at the moment with no modifications at all to the engine is putting about roughly ~350hp or ~245kw at the wheels.
