*Reply to PsychoChimp22* I'll talk about it in about 20 min or so because these computers in my Geometry class are too slow, I'm gonna head for the Library when class is over. :D

Ok I'm at the library now. :D Back to the subject, the new 7-series and ATI's X1800 and X1900 are necessary at the moment. I don't see a single game that the 6-series (including SLI) can't run on everything full. Those fancy new cards are just technology showdowns between nVidia and ATI, and they don't have as much life span. 6-series won't die 'til a good number of years from now, since there aren't as much things to improve on graphics and other hardware killing stuffs on games as there were a couple years ago.
I don't think it can run F.E.A.R on full.
Evening, i am a confessed comp nerd, watercooled pc etc (sad i know)

because nothing properly uses 64bit technology yet. why buy a new processor when you can just overclock your old one. plus you have hyperthreading tech in their already

Its not just about 64 bit, there are more advantages than that.
one of them was said in his post, the cooling.
and its http://www.madonion.com if you a l33t old school gamer like me.

Agreed, the 7 series well never be what the 6 is now. I think theyre both just trying to get a monopoly lol. My crappy little 5900 XT will run the css benchmark, max graphics, at 35-40 fps. I know thats not high at all for css but if you put 2x 512MB 7800 GTX's in my computer i probably wouldnt notice a gameplay difference. The fact that they are making cards such ass the 7900/x1900 is just to say they can do it, no practical use for them in gaming well come out in years.. especialy with xfire/sli.
hmmm, dad has set me a challenge, he has upgraded his pc, and if i do well at school it will be mine, i will get the following:
Some SLi Mobo
AMD Athlon 64 4000+
2x XFX nVidia 6600 GT's
2x 1 Gb sticks of ram
Wavemaster Case
Yes, I can run F.E.A.R. and HL2: Lost Coast on full with no problems. :)
That includes FSAA and texture filtering.
As of now, that's the power of only 1 single 6800GT. :)

i was commenting that there is no point in swapping your perfectly fine p4 (an motherboard) for an althon just for the cooling issue and 64bit capability
i have a feeling jakg is one of those people who has to go against the computing establishment, i.e. Intel, Microsoft
