Miscelleneaous Touring Cars
Some pictures that may be of interest to some here...
#1. Australian Grp C Touring Cars. Nissan Bluebird Turbo and Mazda RX-7, shown at Lakeside 1985 Touring Car Meeting. Both were running as Sports Sedans (for the Europeans, something between Mod Saloons and Thundersaloons), having been made redundant by the adoption of International Grp A. The Nissan, as I recall, was still in full Oz Grp C trim, complete with interior.
#2. Mercedes 190E EVO 2 DTM. My records show that it was labelled as Ludwigs c'ship winning car, I can't honestly confirm if it is, or just a show car. The photo was taken in '91, the car was doing a tour of M-B dealerships in Australia.
#3. One of my favourite Touring Cars. This is Marc Duquets' Appendix J Lotus Cortina taken at Surfers Paradise Raceway in '86. This car was a bit of a giant-killer at Lakeside, but suffered at Surfers if I recall correctly. I am not sure if it was an original car, or one built up from a shell for historic competition in the early 80's.

Lakeside Touring Cars Jul '86
#1 & #2. Gary Willmingtons' Jaguar XJS.
#3 & #4. Peter Jackson Racing Nissan DR30 Skyline. I think this is Glenn Setons' car, in the 4th photo it would be overtaking the Rover....
#5. I apologise for the poor quality of this photo. This is the Bailey "Chickadee" Commodore. This is the car that won Bathurst in '86 when Bailey was partnered by Alan Grice.

Bathurst '87 WTCC (the original one)
#1. An Eggenberger Sierra RS500 exitin Mcphillamy across the top of the mountain.
#2. Peter Jackson Racing Nissan Gazelle. Atmo FJ20 engine, I think Australia was unique in racing this particular model. It ran in under 2000cc class, which again I think was unique to Australia, as I am sure the class capacity break for FIA events was up to 2500cc to accomodate the Alfa GTV. This is the car Mark Skaife started his touring car career in.
#3. A trio of Commodores across the top of the mountain.
#4. The eventual winner, Peter Brock in the Mobil Holden Dealer Team VL model Holden Commodore.
