Yep. We're practically jumping for joy...
Although, I'm coaxing mum into looking at Alfa 156's...
Nice car :) But wouldn't a 147 suit your mum's needs better (Civic and 147 are in the same segment)?

The 156, strangely, is cheaper than the 147 :p
And she loves the 156 to bits. So might as well see what we can do... :D

How's that?
How's that?
147 came out a few years later. 147 depreciates less cos it's more popular. Alfas depreciate rather heavily getting progressively worse as you move up the range. If you were looking at a 147, 156 and 166 all at 3 years old, they'd probably be about the same price. :)

Interesting. Then your mouther must get a 166 V6, Sam... ;)

She'd be lethal, I'm not letting her near one :p
I'm seeing what she makes of a nice 1.8/2.0 Sportwagon 156... my personal choice. Unless anyone can recommend the JTD..?

You trickster, I thought you were the Alfa man!

No no diesel! An Alfa diesel somehow isn't right... Better go with a petrol engine. ;)

No, wait. Actually, I have! It was a 115 in a 147. Nice engine. Less transit van than my 2.0 TDCi, but you wouldn't confuse it with a petrol. Revved fairly freely, didn't have the torquey push in the back that I was hoping for though. Is that a recommendation? I don't know as it is. I still think it's worth some kind of monetary recompense though. :)

I was just asking how was possible that a 156 (bigger, more expensive) could possibly be cheaper than a 147 (smaller, cheaper). And I do like Alfas. ;)

If I'm allowed to make assumptions, it was one based on your first avatar. ;)

It's weird isn't it.
I just checked out www.ebay.co.uk
And I had a peek at the Alfas...
Here are some prices:
Alfa 147 1.6 T-Spark, 86000 miles (2001): £4500
Alfa 156 2.0 T-Spark, 60000 miles (2001): £3500
Alfa 166 3.0 Tourismo, 100000 miles (2001): £3995
Hmm... this is screwed up!

It's because the higher-end Alfas are only for special people.
Why would anyone buy an Alfa Romeo?
It's like putting your bank account on your driveway and letting it blow away..
Would anyone here do that?
