I thought as much, but I haven't had any formal training yet so I was hoping to glean some free learning from this little exercise ;)
What programs will you be using? I'll try to get ahold of them.
yes, actually i would like to know as well, for that may be a help with design
i want some input on the design style for the car, there are quite a few options, a couple are in the view of shape, lamborghini, ferrari(enzo, formula 1 body typish), oldschool(new mustang, camaro, challenger, charger, cuda ect..) and pagani(downward slant from back, like a cheese wedge) sooo if i missed anything you particularly like, PLEASE tell me so i can note it.

What about long front hood, cabin at the back, everything raked back...?

As for what programs I will use for engine design: I myself am going to have to work through a good deal of math myself as any programs that have the freedom I need cost alot and need a 3 year course to program. I will probably use engine analyzer to check viability of certain settings and design aspects. But mostly just to set the base engine. I believe Jediali has some interesting programs for flow but I am not sure.

i will be using for engine:
Solidworks 06 - 3d design and modelling
cosmosworks - thermal and stress FE testing
cosmosmotion - component balance
cosmos flowworks - gas flow

Damnit jediali you got the stuff!!
I only have autodesk inventor 8.... :o
Anyways about the W12 idea... I looked at the thread, the problem with the interferring pistons could have something to do with the fact that it looks like you have a pretty low con-rod/stroke ratio... The one in the Bently had something over 1.7:1 I believe. Might give you a little more space for a larger bore. We all know that a bore:stroke ratio close to 1 is best.
BTW I am leaning more and more toward a NA engine. I do like the possibilities of turboes but they are really complicated tricky things to get right. If we decide on FI I don't think we should do something as radical as dual twincharge (bloody nightmare) twin turbo would be good.
Anyways I was wondering if I should make a thread for the engine department to discuss ideas and start cutting down and refining. I know we don't even know for sure what we are designing an engine for but thats part of the fun.
Of course if a subforum is opened for the UCP car then it would be there.

Dont worry, just make any threads you feel relevant for now, and if it ever gets decided to make a sub forum again, the threads can easily be moved around.

In my opinion that's way too big to make financial sense.
these people have so far been scheduled in:

I need some volunteers for driveline, chassis, body, electronics and Complete vehicle. I'll help out with complete vehicle too.
If we get these departments filled in, we can really start on this !!
Come on people, join this !!!
PS: this will look nice in your portfolio if we can get it running :)
I'd love to get into Design and styling... wouldn't mind doing a 3dmodel of it either, i've got a lot of time too... unfortunatly. Yes?
I read on another thread about ir behing a 4 seat MR... that's going to be Bastardly long!!!
Can I fulfill the position where I insult all your choices and critique all of you if this goes to hell? The position, was it Asshole? This is a pretty cool idea if it goes well - I wasn't around last time this was done but I wish you guys all solid luck - from the outside. I just wasnt to read about the progress then insult people. Is that so hard? :) Hopefully Quiggs will help me...

We can have small overhangs. Think of it as a moden Dino 308 GT4.
On the face of things, it seems all that really needs an indepth look into is the styling and perhaps the engine. What's really expected from the rest? For example, for the suspension ive basically got the idea to run magnetically controlled shock's and progressive rate springs. The chassis will be monocoque construction, made from carbon fibre with an alluminium honeycomb. What else needs to go into those two areas for instance?

Some designs perhaps?
