If I had to choose, I'd probably go with the vette. Despite the rather boring interior and high costs for both maintinence and fuel, it's the best performer.

I can't see much of a difference, but I'll stick with the old one. The LS1 is a tried and true engine, so I know it's realiable. I'd love to have either, as long as it's in black.

427's are not small blocks. I dont know the exact line, but a 390 and under is a small block engine, and anything over is a big block. Thats my opinion, but i dont know if there is a system for this.
