I have to agree, I have been mistaken, it was not a Fiat Ritmo, it was a Lada Samara. Although the difference was very hard to see.

What convinced me of the car being a Lada Samara was the shape...

Just Google some images of both a samara and a ritmo and compare. Most significant detail is the shape of the bumper, a kind of upside down trapezoid...
