I hope Lowndes does it - because the points system is much too biased to consistency rather than winning. Sure, Lowndes has had one DNF at the Clipsal 500, and a forgettable weekend in Tasmania, but four round wins, including Bathurst, HAS to count for something in my book.

Kelly's been the most consistent, but he still hasn't won any rounds. The only reason he's in the lead is because of those dodgy penalties they gave Lowndes on the Gold Coast.

    I also can't stand Rick Kelly's voice....it's soooo irritating

Tell you what, Lowndes has been racing to win whilst Kelly's been racing according to the points system, yet its only 7 points between them. In my view Lowndes deserves to be champ more. He can finish 1 position ahead of Rick all weekend, and he'll have the title by 3 points. It'll be interesting nevertheless.

Perhaps unknown to many also is this will be the last race for John Bowe with Team BOC. Phillip Island's a bit north of his local Tassie, but hopefully he still gets a good result. At this stage he isnt looking at retirement in 2007 either btw.

Bowe...one of the greats - I met him at an autograph session (along with Radisich, Ambrose and Besnard) down in South Auckland back in '02...nice guy.

Remember in 03 - he was second only to Murph in Bathurst qualifying.....came 3rd at Bathurst in 04. Still getting top results in the later years of his career....right up until they switched sponsorship to BOC.

If Rick Kelly wins, not only will he beat Lowndes, he will put Ford's championship reign to an end.

Lowndes for the championship, and Bowe to have a good weekend and end his time with Team BOC on a high, that would be perfect!

Hopefully Lowndes will win, have a soft spot for him as he seems one of the more humble. Hopefully next year the points system will be fairer and race wins will attract more points.

Charged, on the 07 points system, Lowndes would be 2005 champion. Hopefully thats a good indication on how it will reward the drivers.

Is the 2007 points system like the MotoGP points system??

No, but it seems to be moulded from that.

    72 60 51 45 39 36 33 30 27 24 18 15 12 9 6

Theyre the points for a whole round, so Adelaide is half that per race, Bathurst and Sandown the whole lot, and everywhere else is 1/3 that per race.

That will dramatically change the way the drivers race for sure.

A points system that rewards winning and not consistency is the best thing that can happen to V8s.

I'm gonna be so pissed if Rick takes the crown, he just doesn't deserve it like Lowndes. And, I like Ford

A couple of Besser Blocks around their ankles before they go for a swim could fix that
