I'd love a late XJR X308 in BRG and with the minilite-style wheels.

The best thing is that they are relatively cheap buys in the second hand market, which makes them very tempting as you say.

In pure aesthetic terms I reckon the Ford Falcon EA was and remains a genuine excellent looking sedan, most especially the near-base 'S' version - to my eyes the most attractive sedan of the 1980s. I'm not falling into the parochial or nationalistic trap here, I think EA really was 'just right' for its time and btw quitely lauded in the world industry. Clean details front and rear, great profile, big greenhouse including the very deep rear window and low, flat bootline - attractive throughout, and from any angle! Far better resolved than the mediocre UK Ford Scorpio, cleaner & prettier than the (not unattractive) Thunderbird coupe. Interestingly its neither macho or feminine - a very elusive thing to achieve. Its a pity most of you haven't been able to see and appreciate the EA S 'in the metal' - no visual 'conflict' to the design and not a line out of place anywhere imo.

I can't understand why anyone would (or could) adjudge any of these above sedans as unattractive or lacking in 'style'
The Calais was just a fine-tuning of the Opel product and really isn't anything to bounce about - for the record (Rekord?) I think the VL Calais is a far more striking car on the eye.

I shudder to think of the day when an EA will be considered "good-looking" or even handsome, but when you take a look at what other drivel the rest of the world were producing (as a family sedan and not a top-end luxury car), I find it hard to disagree with you.

^^^?!? Aw, hell no. Is this lame thread still going on? At least research a little... Will check back in a few weeks to see if anyone has actually included some truly great sedans or if it continues to be the SOS.

    Carry on...

    Until the next model anyway..

Seriously we are the last bastion of four door cars with tail shafts. Just don't let the Yanks tool around with our designs.

Tail shafts? I tried googling the term but came up with... well some mature content.

The next model is even more gross, in typical HSV tradition. They just can't help shovelling on the gloop.

Holden's original stuff is fine, clean & mature, but HSV is pure Aussie Rice

Hello, first post, I thought I would chime in on this one as it is a subject close to my heart.

Lots of Jaguars would be on my short list along with the Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3. Favourite modern would have to be the Quattroporte, unusually I think I prefer the recent facelift version to the original particularly in GT S trim.
