    Callaway Cyclone V16 engine

    just a development thing, as I understand it... Looks like all they did was slap 2 V8's together...

    yep, this is the way Peugeot constructed its V12 for the 907, by putting 2 V6s togehter.

    i love the little spring thingy on pic 6, like thats gonna hold anything if things go hectic

    The Callaway Cyclone V16 is a prototype engine for a future Callaway project.

    4.0 liter 16 cylinder 90° V angle
    5 valves / cylinder DOHC
    Naturally aspirated
    Power 550 bhp@10,000 rpm
    Torque 340 ft/lb@ 8,500 rpm
    Max RPM- 10,500

    Dimensions –
    926 length (36.45")
    540 width (21.25")
    500 height (19.7") - to top of injector trumpets
    Dry weight- 152 kg (334 lbs.)

    those are impressive specs, it looks like Callaway has had enough of 7 litre OHV engines

    But it`s actually very common to hold exhaust manifoilds together with smal springs like that in/on reducing-joints(don`t know anny good word for it ) on race cars... Not to much stress on those parts exept for the engien twisting.. therfore the springs alow movement in the exhaust joints... without the manifoild falling to pieces....

    And by the way... this is one sick engien....
    Cant wait to hear the sound of this!!!
    But will it sound like my favourite 16 cylinder? the BRM H-16
